Aftermath 2

I recall that David came to see me at a site where I was working on a German, Guy's House in Krugersdorp who kept insisting that the Plan ( which he had signed for!) was wrong and was trying to extend it , without paying ?

David knows my temperament and bumped me out of the way ,when he noticed the Brick in my hand!

He whispered to me , let's rather hit him in the pocket?, does make a lot more sense!

Eventually David expanded his Paving Company to include both Cape Town and Durban, offices .

Our one Brother-in-Law , Chris S was running the Durban Office and suddenly David get's a call saying he has no money in the account to pay Salaries and Bill's.

As one of my earlier Jobs had been doing all the Chemist accounts for the S. A. R. Medical Aid Fund ( the Railways) the biggest employer in the Country ,at that time. Dave booked a Flight down to Durban.

When we arrived at the Offices, I grabbed the order book and invoices while David spoke with Chris .

Within a few moments I discovered the Problem:-

"Chris, they are overcharging you for the Bricks?"

Reply is , David said I could change to another Supplier?

Great did you tell David that they charge R2.70 more per metre?

A very emphatic NO from Dave!

I then proceeded to inform him that our Gross Profit per metre was R3.00 and he had just changed that figure to R0.30?, hence the severe lack of funds in the Bank Account and a whole lot of Jobs still to do, signed for, and no Cash to do them!
I cannot recall how David sorted it all out but first thing was going back to the previous Brick Supplier.

I recall hearing a Conversation years ago where a young Man was told that he needed to make more money, he had a very simple solution:-

OK I'll just start my own business and make lots of Money! (if only it was that simple?)

I recall doing a paving job in Roodepoort , where a wall needed to be built around certain sections of the Paving, we hired another Guy to do this.

This Guy smoked a joint every now and then!

I know this is sort of legal now ( I don't smoke anything) but you could tell when he had a joint because the bricks went crooked when he had one.
Got rid of him and got Albany to sort it out. Worst thing about this was I knew the House Owner .

To Be Continued.
