My favorite recipe:

Banana porridge (otormboro) is one of the recipe that we have in ibibio land. It is made from unripe banana. It is a recipe that is usually given to nursing mothers when they put to birth early and it will make them healthy and helps to produce milk for the baby. It is also given to babies as weaning diet when they start eating by six months. So everybody both man and woman, young and old can eat because it is highly nutritious and well nourishing.

Things we use in preparing the recipe

Ingredients :

  • periwinkle

  • shrimp

  • f ish

  • onions

  • pepper

  • scent leaf

  • seasoning cube

  • salt

  • palm oil

  • water

  • crayfish.


Steps to preparing this delicious recipe:


First of all you will have to wash it before peeling to avoid sand, then you use your creater to create it or you use your blender to blend it .

Then you boil water to cook the aforementioned ingredients 15-20 minutes to be tasty. When you have your desired taste, you cut your banana small small and put in your boiled ingredient water, then you cover and allow it to cook for 5-10 minutes for it to cook very well .

Then use knife to reduce the sizes to smaller size, add your scent leaf and onion to bring out the aromatic flavor. Yea your banana porridge is ready.

Nutritional value of this recipe

  • It has no or low fat (saturated fat). So it is good for obsessed people to eat.

  • It is one of the high calories food.

  • It has no cholesterol. So people with high cholesterol can eat it to check the level of cholesterol in their body

  • It has low sodium

  • It contain high potassium, so people with kidney problem should not eat banana.

  • It contain carbohydrates, protein, vitamin c, iron, vitamin B6, magnesium, calcium, vitamin D ,fiber, cobalamin.

Benefits of eating banana.

  • It prevents constipation

  • It improve digestion

  • It promote recovery

  • It makes the intestines healthy.
