I feel excited to participate in this contest. Our friend @goodybest a great inspirator on this platform has initiated a contest about cooking and combined with traditional culture from various country communities. This is very interesting and I hope this post can inspire others especially readers.
In this post I will share a traditional recipe in my area while presenting the ingredients and adjusting it to the gastronomy and culture here especially in Aceh Province, Indonesia.
As a community living on the coast, we always prepare food made from animal protein sources especially seafood. One of them is sea shells which are a favorite food here. Besides being easy to get, the price is also relatively cheap. In terms of taste and protein content, sea shells are the king.
In addition to marine products, we also have agricultural products with very good quality. An example is corn. In addition to making processed food ingredients, corn is also used as an ingredient for cooking vegetables, especially young corn.
Well.. Here I will do a combination of sea shells and baby corn to produce a traditional dish in our country. I named this recipe as Stir-fried Shells with Baby Corn. I am sure that this dish will produce a sensational taste complete with animal nutrition and protein and of course equipped with vegetable nutrition or protein.
Without further ado, here are the ingredients I use:
- 500 grams of sea shells
- 1 baby corn
- 300 ml of clean water
- 100 ml of coconut milk
Ingredients for making fine spices:
- 3 pieces of sunti acid (traditional Acehnese spice made from dried star fruit). (this ingredient can be replaced with other types of sour fruit)
- 3 cloves of shallots
- 1 clove of garlic
- 8 pieces of cayenne pepper (optional)
- 1 segment of turmeric
- 10 grams of coriander
How to prepare ingredients:
- Wash the clams until clean.
- Wash the corn and cut into several pieces.
- Make a fine seasoning by blending.

How to cook?,
- The first step is to prepare a wok and heat one tablespoon of cooking oil.
- Then saute the fine spices and add the clams along with the young corn that has been cut into pieces.
- Add clean water little by little.
- Add one teaspoon of salt. (adjust to taste)
- And the last step is to pour in the thick coconut milk.
cooking tips: Stir the dish slowly so that the coconut milk does not settle (affects the taste).
- after cooking for about 10 minutes, immediately turn off the stove and the dish is ready to be served.

What's interesting about this dish? 🤔
The interesting thing is because this dish is very delicious, you can't say anything if a dish served doesn't have a delicious taste.
In addition, this dish is also very rich in protein, especially animal protein found in sea shells. You won't find really fresh seafood and enjoy it unless you come yourself near the sea. Haha.., But this recipe will change your perception of that problem.
And the most surprising thing is about the price of the shells I use. I bought the shells at a market at a very cheap price. Only 4 Steem for 1 kilogram. And what I got was really beyond my expectations. Very satisfying.
