Home is where the heart lies" they say, and I quite agree with that quote. This is because a home is not just any kind of building or place, but one filled with genuine love, warmth, genuine concern, comfort etc.
A home is made up of people, traditions, memories, which are an integral part of who we become and how our lives are built. For example, most people I meet in this part of the world comment that I talk like a grandmother (especially when communicating in my dialect). This is because I grew up around my grandmum and I seem to know a bit of most local proverbs used and some historical stories which are gradually being replaced today.
What makes a home feel like a home?
The first and the most important drive behind making a home feel like one are the people in it. The people mentioned could be relatives (related by blood), friends (who have truly earned the name) and even pets (while growing
I can remember my cousin and I being attached to a chicken which we named Clinton. Truly, Clinton was a clingy and audacious pet 😂🤣🤣) The presence of the above-mentioned points made our home a "home sweet home indeed"
Also, in my home, security was sure I felt safe physically, emotionally and otherwise. I mean I could literally be myself and didn't need to pretend. Even if sometimes I was disciplined when wrong, it didn't stop the comfort and love received at all. A home should be a place where people can share their beautiful moments and pains or griefs alike without being ashamed.

Another vital thing that makes up a home is peace and tranquility. A home should be a place one longs to turn over after a long day to rest and rejuvenate. It doesn't have to be cozy but a place to get off some busy schedule of life.
To make my future home a place of soothing relief, I pray to be able to replicate more of the love, peace, laughter, openness, comfort, and energy I receive even as I am still growing.

What makes your home feel like home?
Thank you, @damithudaya, for this beautiful contest that brought good memories even as I remembered home while growing up.
Well written, a home is a place where the heart lies, where there is peace and bond. A place where one feels safe and secured not a place of thorns and hatred. Love, happiness, good memories and beautiful experiences are all characteristics of a home.
