NAVIGATING FROM DESTRUCTION TO CREATION

INTRODUCTION

My amiable Steemians, It is a thing of joy that nature has made us cross paths again. Today, I will be using a rare picture of "A woman breaking Gun" to pass great messages of hope, transformation, empowerment and resilient amidst difficulties. I understand that this sounds ridiculous since the image on its own seems to represent violence, torture, war, destruction and strives etc. However, harnessing the fact that it is a woman (element of peace) breaking a weapon of war (gun) should make our perception of violence a mere trance.

Before we proceed, My name is Marvelous Sunday Udofia, an African son who has seen and heard about divers moment of tribulations, agony and torture of which all these makes me feel worthy of writing this piece. It would be nice if we look at it under the topic "Navigating from Destruction to Creation"

OVERVIEW OF KEY CONCEPTS

Navigating:

As used in this piece of art, Navigating means to move from a region to another. This implies finding ones way out of a nagging or unpleasant situation. It's role in the topic is evidence in the woman serving as an instrument of change. That is, one who is not satisfied with the doings and activities of the society and as such chooses to err out her pains

Destruction:

As used in this work, destruction has to do with detrimental issues. That is, areas of life that brings about pains, agony, suffering, lost of lives and properties, unworthy humiliation, threats etc. This would be metaphorically seen in the gun story and the gun story is a tragic illustration of different spheres of heartbroken moments. Moments tears became ocean, and rain unable to hide the tears flowing from the hearts of men

Creation:

This involves, bringing into existence what has never been. Though some creation could be detrimental, here, creation entails moving from the worst to the better and could be seen in the element of peace (woman) bringing to an end (breaking) agony, pains, suffering, snatching of teeth etc.
By these overview, the sculpture of the woman breaking a gun is a clear message of hope and redemption. It marks the end of a regrettable era while setting the tone for a proposed era full of roses. Now let's make a quick reflection into some of the destructive areas of life.

killing of Twins:

It is a prevalent story that twins were always considered devilish and demonic. This story holds it root to the fact that children should be single and not paired. Nigeria, my country happens to be one of the areas that was drastically affected by this abnormal earthquake. I would not love to remind us of the pains of motherhood coupled with the fear and humiliation in having twins. The neglection, discrimination and unequal treatments made the story more sorrowful. This situation was indeed a gun that was broken my Mary Slessor of blessed memories.

Negligence on Female Education:

It may interest one to know that there was an era when the female children were considered less important and the male children were seen as all in all. It was in this era that parent joyfully sent their boys to school while the girls stayed with their mother at home preparing to become mothers. This ugly practice made the girl child a mere monument and liability while promoting the male children as assets. Western Education tried putting an end to this, however, the girl child were never allowed to appreciate the said agent of transformation thus making life unbearable. Religion played its part as well and today this gun is gradually becoming a past as the girl child now shares almost equal if not equal right with the boy child.

Human Trafficking:

Human trafficking involves the illegal exploitation of people or simply the exchange of people for material things such as money, cows, beads, land, golds, etc. The victims of human trafficking are always pushed into hard labor which in most cases led to their deaths. This practice took several forms and was even extended to both national and international level where people were bought and taken out of the country.

Child Abuse:

This is the illegal an unfair treatment given to young children either intentionally or unintentionally. It ranges from physical abuse such as physical harm or injury to emotional abuse, sexual abuse and may even extend to negligence in meeting the needs of the child in question. The list of unruly activities is endless and it differs in forms depending on the culture, belief and perception of the people.

THE MESSAGE OF HOPE

In the midst of this nightmare comes a woman breaking a Gun. In application, this signifies that there are things that should be put in place to create a new and exciting life. For these things to take shape, we ought to take the role of the woman by putting out war against everything that would cause harm to the individual and the society at large. We ought to pursue Unity, embrace Peace, fight against Discrimination, promote equality while ensuring that we make Love a constant thing in all our dealings. We need to maintain national consciousness as well as seeing innovation as a way of making life better and not the reverse Lets all stand up to our feet as we Navigate from destruction to Creation by recreating the woman in reality.
