This is my second day accompanying the volunteers to survey to determine potential recipients of internet assistance. It is part of direct mentoring or I can say it is assessment practice. This internet assistance is intended for schools or educational institutions, both private and state. Supporting educational facilities will greatly help improve the quality of education in general. In particular, internet assistance can help students to have proper access to online educational materials and attend final exams using the online system that has been implemented by the government. Our institution has been entrusted to carry out the assessment and survey before the implementation of the program takes place so that this internet assistance is truly on target.
As a supervisor and mentor to these volunteers, I have been preparing since morning to provide field assistance. Today plan to survey the North Aceh and Lhokseumawe areas.
The team gathered at the office at 9 am and we immediately left for the areas that had been determined based on the preliminary data from the government institution.
The first location we went to was the Sirajul Muna Middle School educational foundation which is located in Blang Crum village, which is still in Lhokseumawe district.
Most of the schools we visited were closed during the first week of the holy month of Ramadhan, but at least we can check the location and find the contact person that we can talk to. What needs to be checked is the internet installation in the area by opening the network device and from there, it can be seen if there is a network in the area. The second way of checking it is by looking at the cable network from the street and by then we can see whether they already have internet or not.
We only stopped for Friday (Jum'ah) midday praying, and then we continued to other locations, while heading to other locations I also asked them to make a temporary conclusion about the school that they just visited a moment ago. The reason I did this way is to determine their understanding of the survey method. It seems they have made significant progress in determining the right target based on the given indicators.
Discussion and interview to get the necessary information from the teacher at the location performed by our volunteer
We continue to other locations one after another until 3.30 PM before we return to the office for evaluation. Everyone was exhausted because we were all fasting during the day.
Taking a little break before I gathered them for daily evaluation and asked their difficulties during the survey and it was something useful for them to improve their capacity. The fact is that I learn a lot more than the volunteers themselves because I can get lessons learned from them.
We evaluated the "Today result" step by step until 4.30 in the evening and I asked them to rest so they could go home to take time to prepare the iftar dishes with family. I took some time for myself to make a Volunteer Progress Report that I need to submit to the owner of the institution later.
At about 5 p.m. I prepared to go to Geudong because I was going to have an iftar at Hibrida Blang Peria coffee shop today. I texted @heriadi by sending him a photo that I have already in Hibrida where we always meet after tarawih prayer.
Heriadi could not come because he was with his family at the beach taking leisure time with his family and enjoying quality time before iftar. He came to the coffee shop after iftar and we had a cup of coffee and invited me to have a meal at his home. what a friendship!!
