Hello everyone, this is the first day of the Week 3, Season 2 of Steemit Engagement Challenge and what have we got here. In this contest we'll talk about our hopes and contributions to the World Smile Project.

I still remember, the first time I heard about World Smile Project I said to myself that what a nice way to take use of this amazing platform. You see, I firmly believe that if you want to be successful in life you have to help others. Apart from that It just feels wrong not to help the people who are not as privileged as you. This is one of the reasons why, for me, to be sent down in this world, so that we could help each other in times of need.

There are thousands of people around us, living amongst us who are needy but they are too shy to ask for help. They don't want to be felt inferior or be belittled just because they require some help, so I believe it's our responsibility to identify these people and help them to the best of our capacities.

The World Smile Project was initiated to help such people. It took origin on Steemit in Indonesia, I believe and after that it spread to other countries such as Venezuela, Pakistan, Nigeria, South Africa etc. This just shows how much goodness is there in the hearts of the people. The main motive of the Project was to help people through donations collected on Steemit. We have seen such examples such as the funds have been used to:

• Help the Afflicted people of Typhoon in Philippines

• Help build Public Toilets in Indonesia

• Help build houses in Venezuela

• Help Widows in Pakistan

• Help Spreading smiles in schools in Nigeria

These are just the few examples of what the World Smile Project has done yet and I believe it's just the beginning. We still have a lot more to come with the support of the people. Let's now talk about my contribution to the World Smile Project:

MY CONTRIBUTION TO WORLD SMILE PROJECT

I got the oppurtunity of working with the World Smile Project from February 2022. I got in touch with the leaders and all of us agreed that we need to spread smiles all over the world and not just one country. We discussed a couple of plans, the ideas and the main motive behind it and just like that the World Smile Pakistan came into existence.

The foremost priority and the motive was to expand the smiles in my country, Pakistan. Charity is deemed very highly in my religion, Islam. Infact a person who doesn't indulge in charitable donations, isn't a good Muslim at all. We already have a lot of Charitable trusts here but I wanted to get the better of this platform by recieving donations from here and then helping the underprivileged people of my country.

My Experience with the WSP has been good so far, even though I know due to my hectic hospital life, Ihaven't been able to give proper time to this but I promise I'll be back again very soon. Lets talk about the contributions that I have made to the 'World Smile

1.) Getting ration Bags for a Widow and working to get her a method of earning

As I said, if you look around yourself, you'll find thousands of needy people. Similarly I found a woman with her son outside the Mosque. Upon inquiring, she told me how it's getting so hard forher to bear the expenses as her husband died recently. She has to pay the house rent, feed her children, have a method of earning. It was very difficult for her.

This became my first project for the World Smile Pakistan. I promised myself that I'd help her. With the donations that I got, I bought her monthly ration bag and worked towards getting her a method of earning.

I called her on her phone number, that she gave me earlier. She had come with her son in a rickshaw. I brought the ration bag on my bike with my brother and handed over the bag safely to her.

Spreading smiles is not bound to a specific organization, project, institute, NGO or anything. If you want to make someone happy you could do something as less as getting them their favorite food. This has been my ideology since the last 5 years, that's the time period I have started my charitable work. I'll mention a couple of more projects, through which I was able to spread smiles on people's faces

2.) Distributing Over 100 ration bags worth more than 2,000 steem while fasting

I still remember when we achieved to collect more than 90,000 PKR solely from the donations collected through users on steemit. It was really an achievement. It felt unreal. It was Ramadan and we decided to distribute ration bags to one of the most poor colonies of this city, Karachi.

We headed out in numbers in multiple cars, wagons and bikes. The ration bags were first gathered in a local masjid, where we distributed some of the bags. After that we headed out to the colony and started distributing. It wasn't easy at all. There were a lot of people, a lot of families and everybody rushed at us to get the bags but we couldn't cater to everyone obviously. We even had to take help from the armed forces there who gave us a place in their base, from where we distributed the bags through a gate.

3.) Helping an aged man with 3 months Provision bags

I was sitting in a restaurant, enjoying food with my friends. Once we were leaving that restaurant, I saw a very aged, fragile and a weak man standing outside asking for help. He wasn't begging or anything, just asking for genuine help

Upon inquiring I got to know how he is living alone with his daughters and it's getting harder day by day to pay the rent, marry his children off and to have a normal life. I promised to help him and through donations I was able to do that. I asked for his permission before taking a picture and he agreed on it. It was really a wholesome moment.

There are a lot other moments where we helped spreading smiles on people's faces, but as they say not everything's for the camera. Something's are done without anyone knowing and it's better that way honesty. Let's, now talk about my hopes from the World Smile Project.

My Hopes from the World Smile Project

Honestly, the World Smile is already doing a lot. I couldn't have imagined the things that we have achieved by this time. It's not a small thing to send thousands of Steem to people in a seperate country, people you don't even know and we have seen that when the World smile project helped the affectees of Philippine.

But still, if I talk about my hopes, I'd be Hoping that more and more users from different countries step up and start to spread smiles in there respective countries. Just like how the World Smile has spread in more than 4 countries, maybe we could have the @worldsmile in all the countries slowly yet gradually. This would help us in working on a mass level.
