Historical Knowledge of my City |Peshawar

Hello everyone,

I hope everyone would be fine and i am also fine by the grace of Almighty Allah.Today i am writting a post which is about my beautiful place “the city of flowers” Peshawar. The contest was organized by STEEM FOR BETTERLIFE posting community.

Introduction to Peshawar's History:

Peshawar is one of the Pakistan oldest cities it is filled with a rich history of that spans thousands of the years. Situated at the crossroads of a South and Central Asia. Peshawar has been a meeting point for the cultures or empires and the trade routes. Its history can be traced back to the ancient times and it has be served as a vital center for a trade or culture and learning.

Ancient Times:

The city history is dates back to the over 2,000 years with its name often to mentioned in the ancient texts of Buddhism. Peshawar was once part of the the Gandhara civilization a major center for a Buddhist learning. During this time the city was known as a Purushapur a which means the "City of Men" in Sanskrit. Peshawar is flourished as a spiritual and cultural hub under the Mauryan and the Kushan empires especially when the famous King of Kanishka reigned.

Islamic Influence and Mughal Era:

In the 7th century with the spread of Islam in the region Peshawar saw the new influences which continued to shape its culture. Later under the Mughals that it became a significant trade of route between the India and a Central Asia. The Mughals built was beautiful mosques and a gardens in Peshawar that adding to its historic beauty. The famous Qissa Khwani Bazaar or a “Storytellers’ Market”
that became known for the merchants and travelers sharing a stories from far off the lands.

Colonial Period and Modern Era:

The British took a control of Peshawar in the 19th century further of the shaping the city. After the British can left in 1947 Peshawar a became part of the Pakistan. Today it can remains a city that is rich in heritage with a historic sites like the Bala Hisar Fort and the Mahabat Khan Mosque.

Ending:

Peshawar long history and a vibrant culture can make it an important city in a Pakistan. It is mix of the influences has created a unique cultural is blend that still attracts visitors and an historians.

First thing come in my mind "mehman nawazi" when i hear Peshawar. I heard many things about Peshawar.
