Butterfly

An insect kind that is a member of the Lepidoptera order is a butterfly. They have an attractive appearance, and their body is brilliantly coloured. Since most butterfly species are nocturnal, they can be seen all day. The crowns on their skulls are rounded. The butterfly's body is divided into ten segments that resemble a cylinder, with the last 2-3 segments serving as the genitalia. Butterflies also emerge from eggs. The butterfly does not, however, hatch out of the egg right away. When the caterpillar initially appears, it will eventually transform into a butterfly. Butterflies are supposed to have first arrived in the air over North America some 100 million years ago. They can soak up moisture from squishy ground using their foot.

There are 12 genera typically used to classify butterflies. In Bangladesh, 124 different species have been identified. The Papilionidae (swallowtails), which includes the lemon butterfly, is a significant family of butterflies. The Pieridae family of butterflies is widely distributed across the nation. The most dangerous of these is the brassica butterfly (Pieris brassicae). Nymphalidae species are numerous and diversified. Some Junonia species can be slightly damaging to herbaceous plants—Lycaenidae family members number in the dozens of species. Pomegranate butterflies (Virachola Isocrates), one of this genus' most significant species, are found worldwide. The rice skipper (Pelopidas mathias), a pest of rice, is a member of the family Hesperiidae (Skippers). They can be found in large numbers in the deciduous forests of Madhupur and the evergreen and semi-evergreen forests in the country's northeast and southeast. Any unfavourable environmental changes particularly impact them because of their strong resemblance to plants in terms of their life system. Some species only inhabit forests; therefore, whether they are present depends on the forest.

The lifespan of a butterfly as an adult might range from a week to roughly a year, depending on the species. While some species may remain dormant in their pupal or egg stages and survive the winter, others may have a protracted larval life period. One is Melissa, often called Melissa Arctic, who spends two winters as a caterpillar.
Each year, a butterfly may have one or more broods. Tropical regions tend to experience multivoltine, and the number of generations per year varies from temperate to low zones.
