Hello guys, how are you all? I hope you are well. I am also good with your prayers. I came to you today on a great topic.
There are very few people who prefer to avoid traveling. And what happens if someone who has a bike does not go around? Those who feel restless due to work stress take their hobby bike in the open air. Addiction to riding is a name universally loved by riders all over the world. The joy of riding a motorcycle on the highway, beyond the city, on long distances is different. Many times, on the day of office closure or any festival day, go out for a bike ride with your loved ones. After a long day of planning with friends, many go on an extended tour on a motorcycle alone. You must also want to enjoy such an opportunity to mingle with nature! Many people have to go somewhere far away by bike for office work or their work. My topic today is what to do before going on a bike tour. Let's cut to the chase..
Before going on a bike tour, the first thing we need to do is to check the condition of the bike. This is optional if you have bought a new bike, but if it is not new, check the state of the bike.
Things to check:-
- Wash the bike.
- The free play of the drive chain should be kept at 20-30 mm.
- Tighten the chain adjuster nuts evenly.
- Check that the axle nut is tightened correctly.
- Check that the suspension nuts are correctly tightened.
- Check that the nuts and bolts of the swing arm are tight.
- Check the gear lever well. If a gear nut is loose, you cannot shift gears, so check.
- Check if the front wheel axle nut is tight.
- Check the disc brake nuts.
- Check if the brake oil is low. If the brake oil is low, the brakes will not work properly. When the brake pads wear down, the brake oil decreases. If the fat is low, change or replace the brake pads.
- In the case of a drum bike, check whether the rear brake arm nut is correct.
- Check if the clutch cable is OK.
- It will be good for you to carry extra clutch, brake, and throttle cables for long tours. Because if the cable is broken for some reason, you can change it.
Necessary materials to carry:
When you go out with your bike, carry your driving license and all government-approved vehicle documents, such as registration papers, route permits, fitness papers, insurance papers, and your national identity card or passport. And your daily essentials. Take mobiles, chargers, power banks, water bottles, etc., in a bag. Particular types of luggage, or bags, are available for motorcycles and can be purchased online or at accessory shops. But what to remember while packing is to take as few things as possible. Also, try using small packaging items, such as mini packs, so that they can be thrown away after use to lighten the bag. Roll the cloth without folding it; It takes up less space and is easy to find. Do not forget to take some necessary medicines.
The right clothes and accessories:
For long-distance riding, always wear riding pants, ankle boots, a riding jacket, and a full-face helmet. Or wear elbow and knee guards, body armor, or armor with regular clothing. You can find them online or at motorcycle accessories stores. A somewhat tight or fitting dress is beneficial for riding. These clothes and accessories keep you safe and make you feel like a confident biker.
Realistic Tour Plan:
A long bike tour requires the same amount of preparation. Initially, your task is to prepare a detailed plan of where you are going, how much distance you have to cover in a day, mileage calculation, how many times, where to stop, where to spend the night, eat, and fill fuel in the bike. Also, keep in mind that only some things will go as planned. Weather, traffic problems, or an emergency cause many seasoned riders to change their exact plans. So knowing how to change your plan in any situation is essential. Find out what options are available near restaurants, hotels, filling stations, etc. When out with other riders, consult with them in case of emergency. While resting at the end of the day, a detailed plan should be made for the next day's mileage, gas station, etc.
Things to be followed during the bike ride!
The helmet must be worn. The companion must also wear a helmet. Not wearing a helmet increases the risk of accidents. Front lights should be on, and the brake system should work properly. You have to be careful while on the road. The speed of the road should be set. All roads have a speed limit set by government agencies to follow to ride your bike. Traffic laws must be obeyed, such as everyone must drive in the same direction, drive in a single line, abide by traffic signs and signals, must follow the instructions of traffic police personnel, and must use lights and horns as necessary. Horn should not be used unnecessarily. Special precautions should be taken for safe driving. Avoid using the mobile phone while riding the bike, avoid talking on the mobile phone, and if you need to talk in an emergency, stop the bike in a safe place on the side of the road and talk on the mobile phone while riding the bike.
Drink enough water...
Dehydration can cause serious problems during long tours. A 2-liter water bottle is enough for a day's ride. If you stop somewhere, remember that bottle and refill it. If you ride for a long time without drinking water for fear of using the washroom, you will quickly get tired due to dehydration. So if you stop at any place after using the washroom, drink more water, whether you feel thirsty or not. You will get better results if you mix glucose with water.
Take occasional breaks..
Both your bike and body need rest. So try to take a break from a good place after a certain distance. Motorcycle wheels and engine oil check these auto parts. However, frequent stops will save time on the journey, and reaching the destination on time will be challenging.
Limit and adequate food intake..
Breakfast, lunch, eat these in moderation. If you overeat food, digesting it takes a lot of energy, and fatigue sets in. So until you reach your destination, limit your intake; Eat healthy food. By doing this, there will be no trouble in using the washroom repeatedly and no fear of food poisoning.
Be prepared for any weather
The weather can vary from place to place when giving a long tour on a motorcycle. Be prepared for rain anytime this season, especially in hilly areas. Learn about riding a bike in the rain. Check raincoats and accessories before departure.
Stay motivated.
One of the great things about riding a motorcycle is that you never get bored once you start enjoying it. Various small and big problems may come along the way; Stay motivated in any situation. If you are afraid or worry too much, the problem will not be solved, but more time will be wasted. Everyone makes more or less mistakes on motorcycle tours, so there's no reason to despair. This will increase your experience, and you can help new riders later.
Note:
A long tour on a motorcycle is one of the best and most memorable experiences of your life. You and your bike will run naturally for 2-3 consecutive days. And with the rider brothers/sisters, a unique relationship is formed with them. Be smart; Prepare in advance for one of the best tours of your life.
Thanks to all listeners
Be well and be healthy
