What is the definition of Stress according to you?

Your body responds to different things that requires more action or attention, and that's stress. Everybody gets to experience stress at some point in their lives. Stress causes a kind of strain on the brain and body, it could be physical, psychological or emotional.

When you carry out a task that your body isn't used to for sometime, you are prone to have stress. In some people, this stress helps their body adjust to new situations. It can be keeping you at alert and being positive, and also it keeps you ready to avoid damage. Now, people experience different reactions to stress, the impact and coping style varies in each individual.

Do you have any experience?

I've had stress at some point in my life. I would start with my first ever job as a sales representative at an eatery(fast food). I must say, it wasn't fun at any point. Down here, to sell at a fast food, you are prohibited from sitting down. And it's that bad because the body needs to rest or relax at some point.

As a sales rep, you're expected to stand and work for 10hours a day before being relived by another staff. I must say, the stress was so much that after two weeks of my resumption, my weight dropped.

Those photos are me at when I started and when I was like a month there. I lost weight due to stress. Like when I'm on morning shift, i have to be up by 4am and start preparing myself to get to work before 6am to avoid a querry.

Then, I close by 3pm and get home by 5pm because I have to close stock and hand over. Then afternoon shift, I have to be there by 3pm and close by 10pm but get home around 11pm. The stress was so much for me.

Do you think suicide is an option?

I for one do not think that suicide is an option or solution to any life's problem. It can't solve a thing, rather, you leave your love ones in a sad state of mind. I've had to read about people commiting suicide because of what life throws at them.

But, it's not an option, you can speak help and make up your mind to handle it.

What are the practices you follow to handle stress?

I will list out some of the practices k do to handle stress.

  • I try to maintain a healthy routine.

  • Have a good sleep habit, rather than do irrelevant things, I get enough sleep. I make sure my bedroom is quiet and relaxing and I avoid heavy meals and alcohol before bed.

  • I connect and hang out with friends when I'm chanced.

  • I set goals to achieve in a day and I try to achieve it, where I can't,I tell myself I will try again.
