Introduction |
---|
Making a good quality post on Steemit requires planning and thoughtful execution. It’s not something you can just make up within couple of minutes and think it will come out perfectly. It requires lots of thinking and creativity to engage a reader when making a good post.
This is a contest a lot of us will want to be part of and I will be sharing some of my steps I used to creating a good post. But before that, I’ll be inviting @chima09, @steemqueen and @daprado1999
What are the techniques for writing a quality post? |
---|
Whatever content been shared with the public should solve a problem and also meet the interests of your readers. For instance, you can’t go to @freewritehouse community and fill it with crypto related posts. You won’t get much engagement there because the audience there are interested more in stories, poems, literary articles than boring them with cryptocurrency. You have to always put that at the back of your mind.
Before venturing into making a post, try n make sure you organize your thoughts very well. For instance, we can categorize our work into 3 distinct parts; introductions, the main body of the post and the conclusion. That way it makes your work look presentable for people to read. Use of markdowns and subheadings in writing is also helpful in this regards.
Always use short paragraphs when trying to give an explanation. You are not writing a biology textbook that will require you to make a very long write up before giving a break. You just have to stick to the main idea of the subject matter without deviating and give a short paragraph for the next point. It will improve readability. Thanks to @goodybest, I learnt this from her.
If there’s one thing I’ve learnt over time is that people love stories they can relate with. So when making a post, try to tailor it to your personal life or people’s experience. That way, you’ll get lots of engagement from readers and your post will stand out.
Your grammatical structure matters when making a quality post. Your sentences have to be correct in order to be able to pass down the right information to your audience. So, before posting, make sure you have gone through what you written down for the second or third time to check if there’s any grammatical error you will notice, so you can correct it before posting.
How important is relevance and creativity in a post? |
---|
- Creativity
When you come to steemit, you see a lot of beautiful writers but one thing that will make your post stand out in this pool of writers is how creative your work is. One good example I can relate to is @the-gorilla’s sports post. His analysis and how he writes when it comes to sports is so fun, you will think he is one of the commentators.
His style of writing in terms of football is so captivating and it often evoking emotions. Each time England plays a match, I always look forward to his post because I know he must say something funny about the England coach. I supported England in the euro cup because of his post.
- Relevance
One thing i have observed over time is that when your posts is always relevant, you tend to gain loyal followers especially if your niche is always solving a problem. For instance, @michelangelo3, whenever i want to get the latest update on Steemit or new things related to tech project, his work is the first thing that comes to my mind.
Relevant post will always align with the needs and challenges of the target audience and this will bring about high engagement in your work because people will have some questions they will need clarification on, or people that have had such experience will have what to contribute.
Readers trust your judgment more when they you post relevant content because they know that you are a master in that field. Writing on topics that are timely, accurate, and valuable positions you as a knowledgeable source.
Combining relevance and creativity gives your post the chances of going viral or been at the most searched topic on Steemit. That’s why is important you know your readers preferences before making a post. Some post might need a funny approach and some might need a story telling approach.
What makes a post high quality? |
---|
In my own opinion, I will say a high quality post is one that has the following:
- It must be engaging.
- It must be informative
- It should be well-structured
- It should also resonate with the target audience
- A touch of originality without any form of plagiarism and AI write up
- Real life scenarios would be nice further buttress your point
- Readable write up and free from grammatical errors
- Relevant pictures related to the post
What are the visual elements for improved reader engagement? |
---|
Photographs and free images is one visual elements that can improve readers engagement because it complements the post and also give the readers idea to understand better what the writer is talking about. For people like me that love pictures, it makes the work more relatable.
Videos is another way to improve reader’s engagement because it explains the whole post better. For example, there are many topics I understand better today, is all thanks to YouTube videos. If it was only textbooks or handouts, I wouldn’t have picked up fast in learning.
Charts and graphs is also another essential element used by steem curators and admins to make their work more interesting and easy to read when giving their weekly reports.
We also have colour lines or separators to beautify your post makes write up look more attractive to read.
Conclusion |
---|
Making a high quality post requires the writer been very creative and meeting a certain need and interest of the target audience. The writer should also be clear and concise when organizing his thoughts for easy understanding and avoid big grammars. If you can make your post in a conversation or friendly manner, it gives you an edge over other writers.
