"Steemit Engagement Challenge S9-W2: "Easy Come, Easy Go"

in hive-153970 •  2 years ago

"Easy Come, Easy Go", the words of the prodigal who plans to eat the only full-sized tuber of yam he has without considering that there is a tomorrow. The prodigal didn't plant the yam, he saw it on the street and took it. No one questioned him, so he claimed it and decided to eat it all at once. Although he didn't own the tuber of yam, that was the only food he had at home, and the only hope had for the next season. He had one empty farmland but would not think of planting for the next season, and working as a laborer for people so he can gather wealth. He just wants everything in life Easy Come, Easy Go.

What do you understand about Easy Come, Easy Go?

First, nothing good that is long-lasting comes easy. You see, the phrase "Easy Come, and Easy Go" is used to explain a person who got a furtune, or a large sum of money without any stress, either through inheritance, luck, lottery, fraud, Alimony, or even from money being kept in ones hand. This statement comes when there is a form of wastage as a result of money or any other form of precious valuables including relationships, as a result of not working extensively for them.

Have you ever experienced a condition in life like that ? Share your experience if you have any

I have never had a personal with anything that has to do with Easy Come and Easy Go, but I can discuss a particular experience of a person which I learned from. This event happened in October of 2019. This is an event of fraud and how a person spent the money without proper accounting. I was at home when I got a call that a neighbour was at the police station. I was surprised hearing that the case was being charged to court. I decided to go visit him at the station to find out what happened, what I heard shocked me. I know him to work with the Federal Road Safety Payment Department. He was responsible for collecting the tickets given to vehicles and the payment they were to make.

His job was to pay via Remita for them and then give them a Remita code. Surprisingly, he started to generate numbers by himself instead of paying to Remita. He would use one remita number for over hundreds of people, then he would use another generated number for a large number of people. I was surprise to hear that he had defrauded the agency over 14 Million naira which is about 35,000 USD. I was forced to ask him he had bought a land, or if he had built a house, so we could sell the properties and pay the money that was missing, but as expected, he had nothing to his names except for shoes. He spent all the money he was defrauding in clubs, hotels and living the large life. I was very disapointed. I knew he world with the Federal Road Safety Corp but i never expected him to be defrauding the agency, and worse of it all, he was spending the money on irrelevant things since it was "Easy Come, and Easy Go".

How did you deal with the instant success that disappears in a short time?

I have never had a case of instant success that disappeared within a short period of time. I have learned that success is a gradual process and should be gotten in the right way. From my young age, my mum taught me the importance of savings. As I grew old, I learned the ability of investing and using money right from mentors, role models, and from books and CDs. For my neighbour, he had to pay the money back and was sentenced to 6 months jail for his act.

What lesson can be drawn from this expression?

I believed that fraud doesn't pay, moreso, he didn't have any record of the money that got into his hands. Even though his attitude was embarrassing, he didn't also have good financial education. Even if he had gotten the money from a legitimate source, he was going to waste it on levities that didn't matter.

What if you associate the statement above with a romantic relationship If you have any, could you describe it?

When it comes to this statement in relationship, I haven't had much negative experience but there was a friend I invited to my house after we met at a wedding ceremony. She was cool and said she needed a place to stay. Since I am the only one living and there I had a spare room, I decided to ask her to come join me. She was living with me, and wasn't paying rent, or for any other expense. She started to misbehave, taking the assistance for granted, and taking my generosity for foolishness. We ended the relationship when I couldn't take it any more.

With this, I have come to the end of my post, and I will like to invite @lavanyalakshman, @faran-nabeel, @samminator, @okere-blessing @talktofaith @simonnwigwe, @preye2, @inspiracion, @pelon53, and @wilmer1988.

Thanks for the support, I am really glad to have this support.

You started your write-up with another story of yours, that's quite new. It's cool though. But I find it hard to believe there's anyone on this earth over the age of 5 who hasn't had a easy come easy go experience haha. This is just my belief, dont pay much attention to it. You have a way of telling stories, either you're a big fan of novels or you do a lot of writing yourself :)

The fact is I started saving at the earliest that I can remember, or should I say my mum made it mandatory for me to always save. She was going to take 10% of anything I was given either to school or from a guest. This became part of me and even now, I find it hard to spend everything I have because I am always scared of rainy days. Well, on the writing aspect, I am used to having a bleeding pen everytime, because I am always writing whenever I am not at the hospital. Thanks for reading my post.
