Dear Steemians, is this it? Are we done?

It’s been a fun two or three years. I’m not throwing in the towel just yet but things are looking pretty ugly. It looks like an all out war between the witnesses and Justin Sun after Sun used his stake to vote out the top 20 witnesses.

I don’t really know if the witnesses were in the right. I’ve always been suspicious of people who run things and steem is no exception. But I did get the sense that there are decent people among the witnesses. I’ve heard it said that some witnesses are involved in shady business before. I don’t know if that was a thing of the past or if that’s still true today, but at the very least I know there are many rational and intelligent people among them. Their move did not seem drastic to me, it was simply an attempt to build some sort of protection from something like what Tron did today, it was reversible and they were open to discussion.

I don’t know what’s going to happen now, but as long as the friends I’ve made are still here I will stick it out as long as I can. My allegiance has never been to one platform or currency or technology or name. My allegiance has always been to the community.

Regardless of what happens I think the most important thing to do now is to reach out to the friends we’ve made here and to make sure we have a means of staying in touch. Discord, email, and traditional social media are all options. I find a combination of two to be the best.

We’ve all put a lot of time and effort into this community and even if the platform dies and even if the currency dies or if we’re not welcome anymore, the community we’ve built will still exist if we make an effort to hold it together.

I started a discord chat for this very reason. Because I put too much energy into this place to let it all disappear. If the currency goes down to zero, that’s one thing. But I am going to do everything in my power to keep the friendships I’ve made here and I strongly urge all of you to do the same. We can continue building things together whether it’s onchain or off.

Hopefully this gets people thinking about this word decentralization and the fundamental difference between a decentralized technology and the decentralization of power.

I won’t be going anywhere just yet but I think it’s a good time to say this because the future of this community is now up in the air and as we’ve seen throughout months and years sometimes people just stop logging in and become very difficult to contact. There may be a lot more of that in the coming weeks.

If anyone wants to contact me and can’t find me on discord leave a comment and we’ll figure it out.

Love you all and please stay positive and proactive in all of this

It is a blow to the decentralisation myth. I'm not going anywhere yet

Well, what the witnesses did... should have been done a long time ago.
There was just a detente with Ned, so it was left.
And it was left until too late.

What Mr Tron did was prove that he is a dictator, and in control.
Now the only thing remaining is, is he a benevolent dictator.

i can comprehend what Mr Tron and the witnesses did, both apart, and both together.

And my biggest concern was/is that steemit is running the picture serving farm. That was never worked out. It should be being paid like we pay witnesses.

Something will work out :)
