Walking across Simpson Avenue Bridge on Tuesday evening in Hoquiam, Wash., I spied one of our officers washing her SUV behind the police station.
The sun setting, off to the left in these pics, turned the water gold, and made it look like she was using a lightsaber to detail the vehicle.
I guess she thought she had her saber turned up too hot. She paused to adjust it; then it looked more like water.
Four blocks later, I was out in Dog Marsh along the bay, where someone's best friend stirred up a large flock of geese.
The sun cast some nice color on the water and the port facility.
Usually, I climb down the side of the riprap to stand right by the water, but there was a couple there watching the sun set. If you look carefully in the photo above, you can see the top of a man's head above one of the boulders.
I hung back a ways, to give them some privacy, and caught the sun in the trees across the tidal inlet.
