Mom said I was a tiny little girl that didn't love eating much, as a result, I had constant stomach aches. Me interpreting it for being a gentle and calm little girl, I told my nephew;
"When I was a little girl, I was very calm, I didn't look for trouble". My nephew replies with a question "are you sure?"
Me very confident in my assertion;
"Go and ask Grandpa", I say to him. The little boy strolls to meet his grandpa, I follow closely behind him; I beat him to the task by asking,
"Daddy, I was a very calm and good-natured girl wasn't I?" Dad replies "na so"
Me looking confused, my nephew had started laughing,
I turn to mom, "mummy shebi I was a good girl?" Mom adds "Iffa hear"
My nephew erupts in an infectious laughter. I look at my parents; startled, bemused.
I walked out of the parlour, head bowed with a deflated comfidence and a mental note to self;
I won't tell my children to go ask their grandparents, until I get valid and certified facts. No ooo, I won't.
