Environment Practice

I've been meaning to put together some 3D assets that I have into presets for a while now and while doing that I built this scene. The goal is since it ends up gobbling up a lot of time to build materials and get models ready to render I wanted to just save things like grass, clovers, etc. to presets so that I can get something more like a drag and drop workflow.

Without these things being set up already there's a lot of tedious non creative work with building stuff like this and it's too boring to just sit and set up dozens of objects and materials without building anything so that's where this piece was born.

That's all for that. In other news, it seems like we were having too much fun with Communities so that had to get shut down. For the record Steemit Inc., this is one of those moments where you should communicate with the community. If you're to take something away that people are really excited about at least let them know why. It's a lot more irritating to have something that you have taken from you than it is to never have it in the first place.

Funny enough, since I almost never shut down my computer or close my browser I still have access, but it's lonely so there's not much of a point to it. I've already thought of other communities I want to make T_T

Anyway, that's all I have to share for today. I'll see you all in the next post.

Wow... I actually thought this was a real photograph (or are you trolling us? ), and I really can't tell the difference without having to zoom in excessively. This must've taken ages to make, and the result is more than worth it in my mind. Respects to you, sir, for undertaking this immense effort!

Haha, no, no trolling, but it actually doesn't take THAT long. There are powerful and sophisticated tools for distributing objects with a lot of control in my 3D application. There's only 3 foliage models and 2 tree models in this scene. Then there's 2 different meshes for the ground and one for the water for a total of only 7 different models. Then they're instanced tens of thousands of times which adds the complexity.

Ah, the wonders of modern technology. Nevertheless, that's quite the end result, all done with only a few resources to go along with.

A job well done, @midlet :-)

That picture looks 100% realistic! Kudos to you.

I'm working on a similar thing with characters right now (but not quite as advanced as making presets, more like a library). You reminded me that I'll probably have to do the same thing with environments too aaaaaaahhhhhhhhhh XD

That is a nice scene :) And yeh may as well put something together if you were making all the things anyway XD
