Hey there my little hive mind of mine.
How are you doing, did you manage to get past the christmas madness and come out the other side without busting too many buttons of the pants?
Just wanted to give you a bit of an update on all things pepo, ost, mobile crypto applications and the future going into 2020, let’s do a little bit of predictions and expectations eh? Let’s do some potential future riffing!
Well, the christmas contest was a success, we came second, yay! Props to my wonderful, lovely, charming daughter for taking part with me, I’m saving the pepo/ost until we start to have a run on cryptos and then I’m gonna give her the cut — I did want to change the pepo back to OST but it seems impossible to do so at the moment.
I also wanted to make take a little out to convert to amazon (uk) gift card but it seems to be US amazon only, I did contact someone about it because I was given conflicting information about getting the gift card in another currency apart from US (to uk) because they are different gift card stores but I ended up just giving up on that because it was just a faff, I’ll wait until they support more ways to output it. ..
. .. and anyway, let’s keep the value in the system anyway right? because why take something out anyway, I have a lot of hope for the ost/pepo platform and I really like where that is heading too, they seem to be making sensible moves and with a well thought out structure — it’s a marathon after all not a sprint right in blockchain and all things crypto.
It’s about timing, it’s always been about timing, go to early and you burn your entry path to the big leagues, go to late and you lose the early mover advantage, so just build behind the scenes and hopefully don’t burn too many influencers in the process — support and empower your cornerstones of content creators as signposts of starting conversations.
I believe, that apps like pepo are the way forward for tokens and communities, what do I mean by that? Well let’s look at the way OST has gone about structuring their offerings so far and what areas they are tackling in such a super smart way, it’s measured and thought out.
what could really define 2020 and beyond. ..
I believe the following are the very cornerstones of the crypto experience on mobile in the years to come..
- white labelled apps for big communities, support for side chains or similar projects around a blockchain, like gnosis safe is integrated in as a wallet because it’s had various audits and is best in class — cherry pick the best.
- heritage and legacy will have a rebirth, even thou pepo is one of the first apps to get verified in the App Store and people kinda ignored that, it will be a useful calling card for the near future and add kudos for partners
- ost is already doing what steem SMT plans to do, the steem smt testnet just crashed because of an exploit that one of the testers found, it’s not ready yet where as ost is already making different tokens and communities are forming around it.
- video is the future of communications, usernames can be faked, sure deep fakes could come into the mix and get better but your face, time dated, immutable, stored in an encrypted ipfs store (maybe sia) use what works and what can be truly cross checked for authenticity
- people understand apps, they understand purchasing gold or xp in app to improve their character ‘in game’ — why can’t we onboard people in the same way, let’s gamify and incentivise bringing people into these apps.
- it’s not quality of content it’s time relevant content that matters, people in your local area, people having conversations about the topics of the moment, remote gatekeepers and middleman seeping back in and instead invest in the every man/women of every colour, greed and religion — let’s have the conversation we are NOT having here.
I’d like to invite you all to the longer form land of immutability
I’m firmly invested in the steem blockchain, it’s proven over the last three years to be an immutable places where a lot of people are invested in keeping it going, it’s like a self replicating virus that needs it’s host to stay alive to keep fighting, it’s both a paradox an enigma and parasitic in nature — but it works, where their are numbers and where people hold value in the core component it maintains.
If there is one thing we are going to need as of today it’s the immutable web, sure frontends can be blocked, but ledgers cannot, as long as the chains maintain the sync a copy of your text and conversation is somewhere distributed along the worldwide ledger and unless someone has a very well built malware worm, directed emp weapon or otherwise chances are steem will still be running in some capacity in the near future.
Personally I’m waiting for the raspberry pi powered, extreme ssd drive, solar powered mesh networked version of steem to hit so we have lots of little community local nodes too but hey, a man can dream right? :)
Anyway, this is an invite, a partnership if you will, I’d love to get to know you all a little better and in a longer form way — thirty seconds is great but I’d like to know you more outside of those curated moments, steem is a great place to share more longer form content and I hope in the near future we can build a bridge to the pepo web video via an api and make some grand combination of the two — both a frontend to long form steem communities and the video expression of pepo, running together - some chain on chain action, you know if I had the dev skills I’d have already made it! :)
building on yobopeep.com in the year to come
I’d like to maybe do that on yobopeep, maybe I’ll start to mock something up on sketch in the new year, I need to be able to afford the software first and I’d love to do some working together live streams with people who want to help build out the frontend look as they see it, I think it could be a lot of fun actually — don’t you want the most perfect futuristic frontend for your crypto experience without all the faff?
Ok, that’s me for now, time to get into some video recording for the rest of the afternoon and push these new parts to my new course about decentralised video that I put on skillshare — https://smarturl.it/decentralized-video if you did not see that yet, it’s about some YouTube history for the people wanting to find alternatives.
Peace and much love,
Happy new decade.
