Manufacturers of scuba cloth masks must suffer losses after the government prohibits scuba masks from being used. However, the sellers eventually switched to producing three-layer cloth masks to keep the business afloat.
One of the mask manufacturers in Sidoarjo that was previously flooded with orders was Konveksi 99, located in the Gebang Raya housing complex. With the help of 4 employees who work from their respective homes, the convection can produce hundreds of cloth masks a day.
Prior to the government's ban on using scuba cloth-type masks, this convection claimed to be flooded with orders, even in one order the number could reach thousands of scuba ready to be produced.
According to Isti Wahyuni, owner of the Konveksi 99 business, he once received orders from one person up to 10,000 scuba, to fulfill his orders, he even had to buy a scuba-making machine all the way to Sulawesi.
"The order was canceled due to the prohibition on scuba use, the existing machines were not used," he said, Wednesday (7/10/2020).
In order to keep his business afloat, he is currently starting to produce three-layer cloth masks, according to a recommendation from the government, so that even though his demand has decreased compared to before, he is still grateful because his business can still run.
During the simultaneous regional elections, he admitted that the orders for three lapi cloth masks received from a number of candidate pairs were quite a lot. Even in a month, he can receive orders for up to 5,000 masks from customers.
