Mango season has just started in India, and it will be at peak in May and June. Mercury is also rising day-by-day and to beat this scorching heat need something which gives cooling as well refreshing feeling.
There are various traditional drink for summer in India which not only gives cooling also healthy. One of my favorite traditional drink in summer is raw mango drink aka Aam Pana. This green cooler drink is amazingly delicious and satisfying in the scorching summer.
This drink is made in almost all Indian kitchen in the season and also very easy to prepare. Here I am sharing my way of preparing this drink.
Ingredients Required (for 4 servings)
- Raw mango 2 nos
- Mint leaves 1/4 cups
- Sugar 2 tbsp or as par taste
- Black salt/Sea salt/Pink Himalayan salt (I prefer black salt)
- water 750-1000 ml (depends on the sourness of mangoes)
Procedure
To start the process, first we need to cook raw mango. There are 2 ways to cook, either in steam or directly on flame like barbecue. Usually I prefer to cook in steam, but this time I decided to try it on flame.
- Cook raw mango directly on flame (keep flame low). Precaution must be taken while roasting raw mango as it may be blast due to steam pressure develops inside, as happened to me.
- Roast raw mango till its skin turn black.
- Cool down to room temperature.
- Remove burned skin
- In a blender add pulp, mint leaves, sugar, salt and water.
- Blend for a minute and filter if there are fibers remain in the drink.
- Adjust sugar and salt according to your taste.
