I did find out Americans can buy Steem through Changelly.com. That was removed but now it is back.

You can sort out the "STEEM Markets" by "Liquidity score", it's always better to trade on places with bigger liquidity, less slippage, ergo less losses.

There is but ummm. I have used changelly before and I like it. Simple fast.

Changelly used to be great for buying steem directly from them, but like you said they stopped this at one point. When they restarted selling they were eventually blocking credit cards and banning people from many different countries after they had made a few purchases. Hopefully things have changed and Americans can buy from them again.
