August 7, 1669, the capital of West Sumatra Province, the city of Padang, celebrates its anniversary.
The date of this determination was based on the momentum of the resistance of the middle and middle people against the Dutch monopoly under the VOC flag.
Before being controlled by the Dutch in 1668, one of the oldest cities on the west coast of the Indies, was a Minangkabau overseas area.
The formation of this city began with a fishing village in the estuary of Batang Arau, which later developed into a port city.
Every August 7, it is always commemorated by inviting the public to take part in the telong-telong parade, or lanterns.
This parade was held to symbolize the struggle of the Minang people in the strategy of defeating the Dutch.
August 7th, happy 753rd anniversary of the city of Padang, may it be even more glorious.
