Grevillea, commonly known as spider flowers, is a genus of about 380 species of evergreen flowering plants in the family Proteaceae. They grow in most habitats, and most species are endemic to Australia.
Grevilleas are good bird-attracting plants attracting especially the honeyeaters.
Plants in the genus Grevillea are shrubs, rarely trees, with the leaves arranged alternately along the branches, the flowers zygomorphic, arranged in racemes at the ends of branchlets, and the fruit a follicle that splits down one side only, releasing one or two seeds. - Wikipedia
Zygomorphic meaning – A zygomorphic flower is a flower that has bilateral symmetry, meaning that it can be divided into two mirror image halves by a single line passing through the middle of the flower.
A raceme or racemoid is an unbranched, indeterminate type of inflorescence bearing flowers having short floral stalks along the shoots that bear the flowers. The oldest flowers grow close to the base and new flowers are produced as the shoot grows in height, with no predetermined growth limit.
