Hi friends, today I’m making pakodas at home!
Who doesn’t love a crispy, spicy pakoda, especially on a rainy day? Let’s get started!
Ingredients:
- 1 cup besan (gram flour)
- 1/4 cup rice flour
- 1 teaspoon red chili powder
- 1/2 teaspoon turmeric powder
- 1 teaspoon cumin powder
- 1/2 teaspoon coriander powder
- Salt to taste
- Water as needed
- Oil for frying
- Vegetables of your choice (onions, potatoes, green chilies, etc.)
Instructions: - Mix the batter: Combine besan, rice flour, red chili powder, turmeric powder, cumin powder, coriander powder, and salt in a bowl. Gradually add water to make a smooth batter. The batter should be slightly thicker than pancake batter.
- Prep the veggies: Cut your chosen vegetables into bite-sized pieces.
- Fry the pakodas: Heat oil in a deep pan. Dip the vegetable pieces into the batter and carefully drop them into the hot oil. Fry until golden brown and crispy.
While frying the pakodas, I accidentally splashed hot oil on my arm. Let’s just say, I learned a valuable lesson about keeping a safe distance
Some of the pakodas decided to do a little dance in the hot oil, spinning and twirling like they were on a cooking show. It was quite entertaining!
- I accidentally added a bit too much red chili powder to the batter. Let’s just say, the pakodas were fiery! But hey, a little spice never hurt anyone, right?
Tips: - For extra crispy pakodas, add a pinch of baking soda to the batter.
- To avoid oily pakodas, make sure the oil is hot enough before adding the battered vegetables.
- Don’t overcrowd the pan. Fry the pakodas in batches to ensure they cook evenly.
Enjoy your homemade pakodas! Remember, laughter is the best ingredient.
