We’re Not The Product Of Our Circumstances!

I was once working in a call center where my colleague said to me: "I feel imprisoned here"

My reply then was: you are truly imprisoned, only because you believe so!

How come can we work at the same place and he feels imprisoned while I feel thriving? It's because we're not the products of our circumstances, we're the products of outhoughts.

I believe I'm lucky and fortunate to have had this golden opportunity of working in a call center! It's where I overcame my social anxiety, gained crucial corporate experience, and most importantly I sharpened my English skills

My colleague though of this job as a life sentence; while I only thought of it as a stepping stone; this job qualified me to get my next job after three months which was a salesman over the phone where I made a 25% increase on my income and acquired further communication skills like negotiation and persuasion.

The sales job at an outsourcing company allowed me to land a job directly with a client in the US that resulted in a 60% increase to my income.

By then, I had acquired exceptional language skills compared to most English teachers in Egypt, and I started teaching English which didn't really make me as much money but has turned out to be my passion in life

I wouldn't have been where I am today if it wasn't for this call center job, and I'm truly grateful for this wonderful journey I had.

Your thoughts, feelings and actions govern your life way far than your circumstances can.

To this one colleague who shared his feelings with me: thank you, you've taught me how my thoughts matter in a way that I can never forget.
