Sabarmati Ashram also known as Harijan Ashram, Satyagrah Ashram and Gandhi Ashram. It's situated at the bank of Sabarmati River in Suburb Area of Ahmedabad. Mahatma Gandhi stayed in this Ashram for twelve years with wife Kasturba Gandhi and followers including Vinoba Bhave and Bhagvad recitation was the part of Ashram Schedule.
On 25th May 1915 it was established in Kocharb Bungalow and later it was relocated at this site on 17th June 1917. Gandhi said this is the right place to search the truth and fearlessness as one side prison was there and other side a crematorium of Ashram.
Where Mahatma was residing is known as Hiraday Kunj. Indian Government established as National Monument and new building where libraries and galleries are giving the information about Mahatma Gandhi's work was inaugurated on 10th May 1963 by Jawaharlal Nehru. Most heart touching message featured in museum that " My life is my message " It's a must visit place.
