See the palm tree against the sky. The trunk extending to a mirror.
The sea a reflection. The palm a reflection of me, though I do not know it.
There is the awareness of it, without the knowing. The knowing is a mental image, apparently. Eckhart Tolle introduced me to the concept of mental images interrelating as people.
But on the sandy isle the palm tree waves in breezes my mind cannot touch. And yet the breezes are out of my mind. They originate inside, the same as everything.
They live on the inside, with everything, everyone. That’s where we truly interact.
So I project the image of the palm tree on the windy isle in the middle of an ocean. I cherish that image inside. I practice love for it.
To what effect is that practice? What do you think of my palm tree? How do you relate to it? It is a gift, though really a paltry one.
I mean, I didn’t really describe it as well as it could be described.

Eckhart Tolle on mental images
From “A New Earth: Awakening to Your Life’s Purpose”:
You have a mental image not only of who the other person is, but also of who you are, especially in relation to the person you are interacting with. So you are not relating with that person at all, but who you think you are is relating to who you think the other person is and vice versa. … so every egoic interaction between two people is in reality the interaction between four conceptual mind-made identities that are ultimately fictions.
...and so…
What fiction would you like to be and whom would you like to relate to? That’s not really Tolle’s point or conclusion, but it’s one way to deal with ego-created identities – craft them to fit our ideal.
Create the roles and enjoy the play.

Tolle points us beyond ego...
...to the seamless consciousness we all share. As the otter did, in his tanka.
Otter dives in waves
seeking frog legs to nourish
the sky blue mirrorwhat is beyond this veneer
hidden in each of our selves
And Jesus said...
Luke 17:20-21
...The kingdom of God cometh not with observation: Neither shall they say, Lo here! Or, lo there! for, behold, the kingdom of God is within you.
I shared my palm tree...
What’s in your part of the kingdom?

It's always a pleasure.
