When I was in high school, my literature teacher defined literature as the mirror of life. The definition unsettled quite a number of people who could not place a particular subject and a mirror side by side. However, the teacher tried her best to explain the expression, but we could not really understand because our minds were not experienced to imagine the meaning. Now, I know better.
A mirror shows you the reflection of yourself. A distinguishing factor of a mirror is that it shows you exactly what you show it, it never lies. This is why you should take it seriously.
The same is said of a mirror figuratively, it has the same function. A writing, a movie, a song, whatever it is, it can tell you exactly what you showed, you only have be attentive and honest with yourself.
As a writer, I write on different aspect of life, sometimes from experience and sometimes from what I see around me. Yet this writing from the comfort of my home has blessed a number of people I barely know, giving them insight one way or another. I guess they could see themselves from what I wrote and make adjustments where necessary.
Most times, I have seen books that has shaped me and given me insight. It spoke exactly what I needed and I have never seen the writer before. Interesting fact!
The mirror of life is real, it is among us, it is around you. Pay attention!

If it comes to the mirror of life, I am not sure what to think about it. Can be I am there where you were years ago as the teacher tried to explain it.
