Soup is what I make out of celery stalk.
I never really ate celery or celery stalk. The only celery in my life was celeriac in soup. Green pea soup a typical winter dish most likely hardly anyone will eat these days and if not cook it themselves.
My celery stalk soup is a simple on. Three vegetable broth cubes with 1 litre of water and the stalkcut indeed I use a pair of scissors to do the job) in pieces. I cook it till it's a bit soft and that's it. Not food for the poor by the way. The stalk cost me more than meat, 1 kilo of cherries or 25 eggs.
I only buy it on rare occasions to eat a bit fresh vegetable, one I can keep for a few days (no fridge here so I eat what isn't spoiled next morning).
If you want to eat cheap food bread is cheap and pasta is. Pasta we call student food by the way and it's clear what poor people mainly eat. It shows already in the shop, their shopping carts what they can afford.
