As you know I did #wewrite in September 2024...
If it all was that simple...
I tried to teach:
- the basics of free writing (using your brain instead of searching for info or using AI or committing plagiarism).
- The need for good titles (clickbait),
- using attractive first sentences (different from "made by Canva and Greetings I am...) to make the reader click on the post and read
- the use of hashtags,
- being original,
- giving up on the never ending question/answering entries (creativity is the key)
- how to write short stories (no need to type 500 words and it is difficult although I was fought solperez and joslud continued but solperez still asks 200 words for an entry 🤔)
- commenting (every lesson again and more than one comment)
Do the participants still use this knowledge? Do they still promote themselves? A part was not even willing after commenting to give an upvote and these are always the same people. Back then hardly noticed and today doing much better joining SLCs but going for the big upvote and not interested in learning, changing or commenting and voting someone out of their own community is the worst scenario they can think of. Look at who in general upvotes me if not a sudden trail or vote because of being a curator. As soon as I stop no one" remembers" me. I am without a country, status, or present no one, unlike a group of others.
Look where the best, most creative people are, also those happy with advice, a comment and willing to edit.
I get tired of the" next time I will".
That next time will never come. Why write that back and not click 'edit'?
I learned that during those #wewrite lessons mainly those joined who already claim to know everything. If that is the case it is an easy win. I notice the same with other SLCs. The learning aspect is low. One could learn but the lessons are not meant for those who have no experience. Most lessons are also not written for those who have no idea how or what or with a limited vocabulary next to the fact it has to be translated. The result is that AI is used because they have to translate every word of the teacher. In an attempt to join AI is asked to write the entry. An entry in a language you don't speak!
More than once I read frustrated students ask to explain in simple words how they can learn, improve and what they did wrong. The answer is never given.
I am one of those students and was simply ignored till I asked @ inspiracion for help what I didn't understand of their reason how points were divided and what I did wrong. A reason that was changed by the second teacher.
Why am I ignored and I have to ask @ inspiration for help? I noticed the same during #wewrite. I am attacked but if she says exactly the same it is "of course, you are right blah blah blah..."
Back to SLC
The chance to try again and learn (shouldn't that be the idea to learn something?) is not given. The teachers are busy elsewhere or have not enough time or internet data or are not able to explain what to change or how to improve.
This is what I did, participants were given a chance to edit and try again and reports were changed.
I invested many hours in writing a lesson often two days. I tried to explain, explain and explain because laziness is a trend and it's" too hard" to read a former lesson or the report with nominees where the problems faced were mentioned + reasons for how to improve. It's great if someone is happy to learn but I like to know how many would join SLC and Crypto Academy if the Steemit Team would announce no SC upvotes can be expected. Not from SC01, 02 or other SCs.
Those who want to learn will learn. Many go to youtube and they don't get a reward if they learn to knit a sock, how to make a dessert, an excel file or learn about Binance or consorts. If it comes to that there is no info and you would be shocked how many have no clue and need help from a middleman and give away their keys even the master key is in the hands of a 2nd or 3rd person.
#wewrite note: I paid a group of my share to help check the comments. A few never showed but took the payment. They never told they did not check I had to find it out myself so I had to check those I gave my share and this was hours more work for me. I did it for the participants but this again makes me think more than twice if teambuilding is possible at all and ask if all noses point into the same direction which is the goal to help others succeed.
I invested a lot of time checking, explaining and I doubt anyone would be that crazy or would invest that much time in an attempt to teach and help out others.
The one who helped to the end was @yancar. Always present, helpful, checking and no favouring.
Negative about #wewrite was the fact we had to give points which means it does kill creativity but therefore it was possible to earn points with other aspects.
#wewrite introduced participants to many communities to broaden horizons, to promote the diversity and richness of Steemit. A lot was liked but after #wewrite it was all abandoned because?
The biggest disappointment is that all those who followed the lessons do not bring it into practice. Old habits are hard to change or is it because those lousy posts are upvoted anyway?
Hashtags
I wrote articles about the use of hashtags and one is pinned in Steem for Better Life #betterlife the other in Knack4buzz. #enterrainment
In both communities I still point out if hashtags are wrong, no one will search for whatever they used. Next to that, I started ᔕᑕᗷ ᗰOᑎKEY ᗷᑌᔕIᑎEᔕᔕ #steemit #chat with topics to help Steemians.
I still tell the creative writers and artists how to use the right hashtags because this is just like commenting and upvoting a way to promote oneself. I do this as a curator as well and I comment as many as possible.
I have not seen one single moderator making a remark about the title, a catchy start and the right use of hashtags or a typo.
People simply do not care, don't know the meaning of wordsword they use and add everything they see others use.
If moderators, hosts of contests and curators do not care nothing will change. These are the only people who can reach out to many steemians but most are not creative, many never comment and act the same. A part can hardly read or they simply don't read and have no eye for detail. Shouldn't they be the teachers a point out to the rules of the community? Shouldn't they be the good example? Perhaps lessons for admins, moderators and hosts of contests are needed instead of the achievements for newcomers?
Pictures are a burden all the same canva or not fitting to the text or a mix or istock
The hosts set the trend to add 5 pictures. I know I hated it back then (years ago) and still do. It takes me just like markdowns 5 times more time to add it. Look how I work and what the text shown after the update of Steemit's face looks like. How to write a comment in such a small comment section? I cannot even see what my text will look like!
Example of one of those" unnoticed, copy-pasted first lines
The first line is: photo edit by real 7i.
Next the info no one cares about because we can read who wrote it and **I am drunk... **
The rest is blah blah copy-pasted text for the word count. The I am drunk is a nice touch
Btw, asking a stranger how do you do is not acceptable in several countries especially if you are not willing to listen how the reader feels. In this case, the" drunk" isn't interested (like many others) because he states (like many do) that the reader is doing great (discussion closed and who cares the reader feels miserable).
I have no idea what is taught to newcomers but I assume the certificate and the guidance by @the-gorilla stand for something and the greeters do more than just say hi and leave a template message just like the red welcome bot does. I wonder if the Steemit Team shouldn't be the one doing this. A happy message like the one the @xpilar bot spread would work even better since people talked to it and felt heard.
Your last two points I cover as a commenter, in SCB, with my contest Monkey Business and if someone asks (no matter the hat I wear).
How much more can one do and what exactly is the job of an SR??? Don't they have a teaching role? The only one who wrote about that was patjewell. The other reports are about being a moderator and hosting contests.(I would say: who doesn't). Who or what is it they represent?
How about you applying?
Your points are good but if the only motivation is the SC01 upvote I rather let it be.
Btw, I had three (3) #wewrite participants happy to learn and doing well over the platform. They are blooming and willing to try something new and two are super motivated also if it comes to promoting Steemit while writing and commenting.
Note: the video is a kiss-kiss short film
God is a single parent and amateur programmer. He’s working on project ‘Earth’ but never seems to get a break from the kids. One day though, he finally gets a breakthrough
A great weekend to you (and those reading this)
🍀♥️
P. S. (the next edit: SSEA helps/educates newcomers and those who like to grow too but if everyone does it in a different way what's the point of teaching?
In everyday life I have had the opportunity to teach subjects such as mathematics, physics, among others related to calculations "at university level", through my experience as an informal teacher I have always had two feelings, excitement and disappointment. The results of some of my students affected my confidence as a teacher, but later I learned that I had to be conformist because not everyone has the ability to understand, much less put into practice what they have learned, because the idea is not only to learn, but to put it into practice every day, otherwise, what they have learned can be forgotten. So I did not get frustrated, I keep a clear conscience that I have taught them to solve problems.
Many users have little discipline, they do not have clear objectives or goals, they are not consistent, they tend to get discouraged quickly for some cause or reason, all this prevents them from developing an outstanding activity on the platform, or at least, a decent one.
The reason is to offer a kind of manual or guide to users in general. I know that some will seem too confident on this subject, but I am sure that we always have something to improve in our posts, no matter how many years we have on the platform. None of us are experts or super gifted, but we can show our knowledge to guide us to improve. Each one will see if he absorbs the information that is shared.
Users are selected as SR for showing something interesting, whether it is commenting a lot, promoting the platform, reviewing content, quickly adding SP, motivating others, among other reasons. Reports are posts where they can share their activity or a message, there they receive the vote that corresponds to them according to the SC criteria.
Taking the message from the video I can tell you the following:
We cannot expect the extraordinary.
If God, who is the creator and great teacher, taught us to love one another, many continue with war and exclusion. What can we expect from our teachings, we who are simple mortals?
Happy weekend to you too.

In short this means that the only solution is to do what @aneukpineung78 does to make a habit out of what is taught. Learned is not the right word if it isn't practiced. So projects of 3-6 months where ot is possible to try and receive help and grow.

In the Newcomers' Community, we say that we're here to answer any questions but as you say, the majority of users are lazy and don't actually want to learn. They just want to receive votes.
Most of them are introduced by an existing user so they don't tend to have the curiosity of somebody who is seeing it afresh and need to learn for themselves (like I had to).
I don't read the "Achievement 1" at all any more. Why? Because if they've written an "Achievement 1", it means that they haven't read any of the guides or collation of information that I spent a lot of time creating. This isn't limited to new users - this includes some of the Greeters who demand use of the #achievement1 and other old information that we all agreed that we wouldn't ask for any more. I still take the time to read the "1st progress report" - these are people who have actually shown some level of commitment for whatever reason. I try to anyway. I know I've got to catch up with a few.
Do we need Reprasentatives to be available to help newcomers? Well, yeah. I guess it's part of the "label". But there's so much information for people to learn themselves - as you say, like they would in the real world on YouTube or other resource - hand holding shouldn't be necessary and if it is, it's probably because the "learner" is too lazy to learn for themselves.
I am not drunk.

I also tend to believe that those who arrive alone are more motivated. I did by far not use all the benefits of the platform (or steemworld.org) but I could write, post, upvote and comment and spent hours reading (no SP needed for that).
If you do not bump into the right person willing to answer questions it is a lonely journey but I am still around and so are many others. I found several in 2024 and they are all active members exploring different communities, they upvote, comment and are enthusiastic and supportive. I mean if a 77-year-old can figure it out with some help how come others can't?
It's great if you can help someone with tips and they get forward but I don't like to hold hands and spell it out 40 times. I did that enough last year and it's a waste of my time, I rather invest in myself.
I am afraid that if there's no schooling for greeters, moderators and so on it's impossible to achieve something let alone change "the rules". Those who already know will not read whatever is pinned. Perhaps it's good to have some guidelines for greeters and post them in a group chat (without chatting)? If that doesn't work they are out because if you stand for something the same line should be followed without personal interpretations.
I rather see greeters who greet from their heart since that is the "you are welcome" part, not a template with rules. It scares away newcomers. A bit of chatting up and down to figure out what the intentions are (or needs) in an informal way.
I know you are not drunk although we say drunks speak the truth. LOL

Exactly! And...
Also true. Simple answer - Lazy. They don't want to figure it out. They want the answer. And that answer should earn them the big bucks without doing anything.
The main problem that I see with the greeter / steem reprasentative model is that in the main (Ok, not everybody), people apply for it because they want the position of status and presumably the votes that comes with it. It always ends up being about the votes. Then, it's a process of open post, comment on post, open post, comment on post. Or even worse - rate post. All of it's so unnatural.
Which is probably why the "new approach" for Greeters hasn't really changed anything. The Newcomers' Community is still full of "Achievement 1" that are so template driven that they're a bore to open. Hey ho. I tried to make things change but in reality, only inspiracion really understood the why behind it all.
I always used to be a happy drunk. Since children, I'm almost certainly a manically depressed drunk. So I don't drink.

Should all greeters be experienced Steemians? Why not let a few "newcomers" welcome them and do this without being rewarded? Actually, no one should be rewarded to help a newcomer. If a handful of "new" Steemians check and welcome they can practice commenting, share their first experiences and so on and who know friendships will be the result? Perhaps 2 or 3 Steemians can have a look at the talks and guide where is needed. Should everything being paid?
If a newcomer isn't able to "chat" s/he will not learn much or be informed.
