Food For Thought

Food for thought-why should we get justice when we will never give it to them?
These are just random images taken off the internet. The suffering of animals is a world-wide crisis that has no end in sight.
We have designed the world in a way to always keep animals as our slaves. To keep their suffering constant and misery being the only fate they know. Interestingly, doing this whilst being aware that they feel pain and happiness the way we do.
Why is it that we scream and shout for rights to protect ourselves from ever being in a vulnerable position but we don’t raise our voices enough to protect those who already are?
The arrogance and selfishness of human beings to believe that the whole universe only revolves around them honestly fills us with rage. We will find a million things to worry about, to complain about, to feel sorry for ourselves, to make it all about ourselves.
We are so immersed in our own problems that are often self-created, and our anger at the cards of fate the universe has dealt us, that our worldview becomes so narrow, so opaque. Problems appear bigger than they are. Crises appear more fearful that they are. Why? Because we feel we ‘deserve’ better. The world should treat us better. Why do we feel we are owed an easy life as compared to others? How self-important and narcissistic are we?
If we could just put our personal issues to aside, and just pause. See how big the universe is. How many breathing, beautiful lives, other than human ones, pepper this world, our problems won’t seem so big anymore. The foundational mindset we all have will change, it’ll grow, and life will actually start looking simpler and easier to bear.
The fact that the first question or statement we are always asked is why are you helping animals when so many humans are suffering, is just a reflection of how flawed and arrogant our thinking is.
We identify with human misery more hence we give them more importance because it could happen to us. But the moment we start identifying with the pain of those who we do not identify with, knowing that we will never be made to live their life of suffering, knowing that they can never do anything for us in return, THAT’s the deepest, most significant form of Empathy.

The truth is that you are right, humans are selfish and will always look after their own safety, unfortunately that is the reality, a reality, extremely difficult to change.

It is precisely this way of thinking and acting that has transformed our beautiful planet into a dumping ground for our "needs".
