Yet another tori gate to welcome us when we were very near to the Meiji Jingu Shrine. There were more people around, we had to go through the washing before getting inside.
Here's a purification trough, I learned today that it is called chouzuya in Japanese and is used for cleaning the hands and mouth of those visiting the shrine.
These are some of the snaps I took while waiting for the people to clear out and do my own purification.
Some random strangers were teaching the foreigners how it's done. I learned how to properly do it after watching these guys.
I felt a little "clean" after I did my own and my husband too did his own purification. I am not sure if someone would really inspect if one did the purification before going inside.
More photos inside the shrine in the next blog.
xoxo,
