Our environment has suffered for a long time the inadequate action of man, the misuse of natural means to abusively obtain resources has produced great damage to our planet. The lack of sensitivity of many people in damaging the environment for economic reasons, the lack of environmental education has led to an indefinite deterioration of the earth.

As an educator I try to instil in my students a love for nature, I talk to them about some practices that devastate our environment, I also explain to them about the actions that we should do to help protect it. On this occasion we cleaned up a small piece of land that was dirty due to the unconsciousness of some people who throw solid waste such as cans, plastic containers and rubbish. Three teachers joined this activity to support me.

After collecting and cleaning the place we decided to prepare the land to be able to plant and thus prevent them from making it dirty again, we also talked to the headmistress to put a pipe to the sink because all the water from the kitchen goes to the land, all the detergent and oil residue fell on the land causing damage and desertification of the land because the detergent and oil destroy the vitamins in the soil.

To give vitality to the soil, we placed a compost made with vegetable and leaf waste, while we spread the compost we explained to the students how to make compost and the advantages of using organic products instead of industrial agricultural products.

At the end of the activity we reflected on the importance of protecting our environment in the classroom, explaining the damage caused by throwing rubbish in a space, we also talked about the small actions we should do to pollute less as: avoid buying plastic as it is a major pollutant that does not disintegrate easily, also plastic when exposed to sunlight releases substances such as Bisphenol A producing damage to the ozone layer and people, do not cut down trees, do not throw waste into the environment, recycle, among other tips we gave them.

I firmly believe that educating children and adults is an important step for each one to become aware of the responsibility we have individually with our mother nature, I believe that more than planting a tree is more effective to teach many to plant it so we would multiply awareness and knowledge would expand, each time I always explain to students the importance of taking care of our spaces, I have faith that these lessons will be a lifestyle that will incorporate into their lives.

Well this was my small contribution to raise awareness and with my story I invite each of us to teach the benefits of having a healthy planet and implement actions to achieve it.
