I want to introduce you to Arezzo!

This is the first article that I share in this community and I do it by bringing a city that has always been precious to me in fact those who know me on steemit know that my favorite region is Tuscany anyway and today I want to introduce you to Arezzo but I am sure that many people of you already know it.

From my point of view, even if I am very biased, Arezzo is a destination that surprises you because in many cases the tourists who come from all over the world are little considered and yet it is very rich in art and beauty. science for literature just think of Francesco Petrarca but also of Piero della Francesca for whom every corner of the city certainly contains something to see and admire.

For cinema lovers I want to remind you that many scenes of life were shot here in Arezzo and the famous film by Roberto Benigni that tells a little about the tragedy of the holocaust and that allowed the actor to win the Oscar.

Among other things, I was just a short time ago in Arezzo because every year in June there is the joust of the Saracen a kind of medieval historical event in period costumes that takes place right in Arezzo in which the four districts of the city participate.

Think that this historical reenactment was born 141 years ago and from my point of view it is one of the most beautiful folkloristic events that I have ever seen.

They explained to me that this traditional Giostra del Saracino is inspired by an ancient competition that took place in the Middle Ages so we are around 1200, and it consists in hitting the shield of the Buratto (puppazzo) with the spear very quickly in a gallop race, because otherwise there is a risk that this puppet will hit you and make you fall off your horse, I think you have seen this carousel in several medieval films.

I must say that I really like participating in these events because they try to preserve certain Traditions in the future that otherwise would be lost.
