INTRODUCTION

Its gladdens my heart to take part in this contest that will make me display staple food of my country. I am a Nigerian and that is my country of residence. Here we have many staple foods which I am going to talk about two. These are the ones I can't do without. The ones that appeals to my heart and the ones that are generally eaten by people everywhere you go in my country Nigerian.

This food is loved by most adults and children can't do without rice in a day. They like it so much and I personally like it too. There is no occasion without this food being cooked and if there is such occasion, it means that party or occasion is incomplete.

Below is a picture of me and my kids enjoying my country's staple food.

The food can be prepared and eaten in different ways.
It can be served as;

  • Rice and stew
  • Pepper rice
  • Jollof rice
  • Rice and beans
  • Vegetable Rice
  • Coconut Rice
  • Fried rice etc

The condiments used in preparing this food depends on the type you want to prepare. But then there are major condiments used in preparing the food.

These are the major condiments used no matter the type of rice one wants to cook.

  • Meat
  • Fish

These are the two major condiments used and others depending on the type of rice you want to eat.

This food is nutritious and loved by all. It gives us carbohydrates along with fibre. It's a starchy food and its water is used as hair treatment by women.

Another staple food found in my country is Afang soup and Eba (swallow).

This is another popular food in my country. This food is mostly cherish by the male gender and some female gender too. This is another type of food cooked in an occasion couple with rice. The soup is easy to cook and can be managed with few condiments yet still taste good. I love eating this soup so much and if I walked into a restaurant, that will be the first choice of food I will make.

These are the condiments used in preparing this soup:

  • Meat
  • Fish
  • Afang leaf
  • Water leaf
  • Stock fish
  • Periwinkle
  • Palm oil
  • Grey fish etc

This food is classified among the energy giving food because of the carbohydrates in it. Its gives us enough energy to do work and as such males gender do not joke with this food.

Conclusion

I love and cherish our Nigerian food as it is not just a food but has many health benefits. All the food mentioned here are cultivated in my country and as such it is always available at any time of the season. It is not a seasonal food.
