Hello Coffee Lovers from Steemit, this time Barista Academy moves to the town of Valle Guanape in Venezuela, where we will be receiving and providing training regarding coffee growing. We were invited by the Anzoátegui State Coffee Producers Association (ASOPROCANZ) who are doing an excellent job in terms of training our agricultural producers in modern coffee growing techniques. If you want to know more about this trip, I invite you to continue reading our publication.
Barista Academy supports the coffee producer
Our academy, in addition to teaching barista courses, coffee roasting courses, cupping and others, we also take care of promoting the coffee culture in our state. We take care of training producers in terms of what is organic coffee production, in terms of what new production techniques are, because we have understood as an Academy and as consumers, that if we do not promote training and productivity in the field, that is translated into an increase in local production and an increase in the quality of life of the peasant producer, we will not have available the raw material to prepare the exquisite drinks that we offer as a barista, that is why we have insisted on visiting producers, help them increase their quality of life, take training and help in everything we can so that in the short term we can be part of those promoters of change in our state, that is why, this time, we were invited by the Association of Coffee Producers of the Anzoátegui state (ASOPROCANZ), where the director of the Academy @DanielLozada, serves as Executive Director, to participate as speakers and com or student in this training activity that was carried out in the town of Valle Guanape which is located 2 hours from Lechería where our Barista Academy headquarters is located, this is located in the Anzoátegui state in Venezuela in the south of the American continent, this is a population that must have more or less 3,000 inhabitants, which has a mountainous area where coffee and cocoa are produced and plains where livestock and other crops are developed, this course was promoted by the Venezuelan Coffee Corporation CVC, which, This event was organized through the association of coffee producers of our state (ASOPROCANZ). This lasted two and a half days, two days of theory and half a day of practice on the farm.
We left on a bus from Barcelona - Anzoategui, which took us to the Barista Academy team and the Producers Association team to the town of Valle Guanape, where there are also people who belong to this association, we left in the afternoon, we arrived approximately from night, almost at six in the afternoon, after a sunny tour at first and a little rainy later, we went to stay for the next day to start with the training. Once the day arrived, the entire delegation from the Venezuelan Coffee Corporation arrived, including instructor Gabriel González, who is the General Manager of the Venezuelan Coffee Corporation. This man would be teaching the course on modern practices of coffee growing, which aims to increase the production of coffee from the farms in this area and in the Anzoátegui state. The appointment took place at 9 in the morning where @daniellozada on behalf of Barista Academy and ASOPROCANZ had the opportunity to give a forum on what is the history and future of coffee growing in our country, talk a little about what has been in coffee growing in terms of the economy of our country in terms of culture, since the time of the independence of our country approximately 200 years ago and what has been the future of our country in terms of coffee, if we continue with the practices and training that are currently being developed through these organizations, taking as an example successful models such as those that have been developed in producing countries such as Brazil, Colombia and Costa Rica.
After the words of the president of the association of coffee producers of the Anzoátegui state and other representatives of certain public organizations, the training course began, where it is intended to address points such as coffee rust, as we see in the photos of the seedlings below that a disease that creates a yellow powder on the leaves and what causes the fall of this, when we speak of a plant attacked by this disease we speak of a decrease in the production and loss of many hectares of coffee, that is why inside From the training and development plan of coffee growing in our state, we talked about renewing coffee plantations with hybrid varieties resistant to diseases as is.
Below we can see what would be a healthy coffee seedling and below two photographs of coffee seedlings with fungal diseases. One with coffee rust and one with cercospora.
A motto that we have is that more agronomy translates into more productivity and that is that when we carry out better agronomic practices with the correct coffee varieties, we will achieve an increase in production and an increase in what has been the quality of life of the farmers. coffee producers, that is why these organizations such as the Venezuelan coffee corporation, which depends on the Ministry of Agriculture and Lands of Venezuela and the association of coffee producers of the Anzoátegui state (ASOPROCANZ) are committed to increasing the training of their producers and the hectares cultivated with new varieties in order to achieve higher yields per hectare of coffee in a short term and become one of the states that not only produces quantities of coffee, but also quality coffee according to international standards, both to supply the national market and to export to other consuming countries.
The event was very entertaining and had the participation of approximately 250 producers from various sectors of Valle Guanape, from the so-called cold zone, where coffee is produced both from producers and experienced, as well as people who want to start growing coffee in their production units In this publication we will be talking about the days when we received theoretical training on days 1 and 2, which was carried out in the central courtyard of a town school and regarding the modern techniques that we learned, we can mention the pruning and handling of tissues , variety selection techniques before planting, chemical and organic fertilization techniques, techniques to harvest coffee correctly, among other things.
In a future publication we will be showing what the field visit was, which was also very enjoyable and very educational by the representatives of the Venezuelan coffee corporation, it is also worth congratulating and highlighting the work of the mayor's office of Carvajal municipality I know where Valle Guanape is located who with his work team gave us the greatest support in terms of logistics in terms of transport and other things and various alliances were achieved between Barista Academy, the producers association of Anzoátegui state coffee (ASOPROCANZ) and the municipality of Carvajal, to continue with the training programs in the coffee sectors. We hope soon to be able to attend to give new courses so that the producers achieve better techniques and greater productivity, we hope to be able to share with the entire Steemit community the photos of the visits that we will be doing the trainings that we will be taking to the producers of this Anzoátegui state sector where we do business.
