True Colours 4 (Team #3) | February Curation Report for Week 2

1. Preface

Disappointed is the topic that ruled the past week. We are disappointed in those who left comments, the commentators who suddenly appeared and left almost the same comment on different posts and comments and we are also disappointed in the lack of reactions that we leave as a team. Should we waste our time commenting since not one single SC team does that.

We are also disappointed about the posts.
The creativity is hard to find and the average chosen title is bad and hashtag abuse is increasing. There is clearly no priority given to titles and hashtags, not even at the beginning of a text. It is copy-paste work that is often rewarded.
It is disappointing that when we ask to choose a catchy title, to remove the word "contest" or to use better hashtags, we often hear: next time I will do that (next time never arrives).

The above makes clear that reading is no priority, that the feeling of building a platform together only exists in a small group but also that receiving a reward for a post is taken for granted by a number of people. We do not want to participate in this and certainly do not want to reward this. Nice, great, awesome if you decide to provide others with a comment, but we like to see engagement. Friendships are valuable and can certainly be created via Steemit.

Is there also something positive to report?
Yes, certainly. A positive aspect is that we see enough artistic entries to upvote, there are also long threads where people talk and laugh with each other. Where information is shared without problems and where people ask with genuine interest "How are you?" and listen to the answer. Asking this question and not listening to the answer is rude! Please, take note of that. These Steemians can count on us and will be rewarded even if it's more than once.

Note: A number of upvotes have been given in the hope of encouraging the writer to do better, even if it is not the best post/comment.

This is the statistical report on the implementation of the first week of February curatorial activities by Team True Colours 4.

@sailawana reviewed a restaurant in this article. The restaurant is one of the well-known restaurant franchises that can be found in major cities in Indonesia. In her article, she included photos to accompany the narrative and showed the menus and price list. Sailawana also pinned the address of the restaurant she visited, and this led to an interesting conversation in the comment section especially about the Steem Atlas dApp built by @pennsif.

"In the creative process, I am the conduit. I don't think I ever write anything that has anything to do with me. I write mostly about the poor people who are huddled in their misfortunes or their worries. I give them a piece of space where they can relate and have a voice of their own.... I don't care about politics (although it affects me). Art should be outside politics. "

This comment was part of a series of comments @dissi wrote under his own article Eine wahnsinnige Kindheit / My insane youth, a bilingual article themed around insane things that happen in his life, which sparked a quite long chat in the comment bar. "Yeah, they are really lazy. A friend back then told me once that in his village someone broke into a house. It took over an hour for the police to came (which station is settled 5 minutes in car from where they broke in...). This is so unreal for me! I mean, when someone needs something from my workplace and it's urgent ..."

A poem written about the painting of choice which makes one consider about the life one lives and how we treat others: "Though you were never hungry, you always took the cookies from my hand. Though you always stayed silent, you never left me without an answer. Though you never smiled, you always made me laugh... Did you feel the same as I did when I bathed you, combed you, dressed you?"

That's what friends are for but above what Steemit means to her, me and many others. A place without borders where we engage, connect, catch and lift another and not only on Valentine's Day. @olivia08 did not only made me smile because of the song she performed but most of all she invests in old friends. "That's What Friends Are For". A Happy Valentine's Day to you.

Can playing video games be harmful to your health and especially your eyesight? "Those who play and realize that they are ruining their eyesight should stop (I know, it's not easy at all), but if you work, definitely not. In any case, if you play little, you shouldn't see any major damage. If anything, the question is: can you play little? Because of addictive games, we know that often, especially teenagers, will have a hard. So the usual annoying little word "it depends" comes back into fashion."

Congrats on the report, always well-detailed.
Clearly, I’m very pleased to see that the Italian community continues to rank among the top for the number of comments. 😊

Unfortunately, I have to admit that I’ve also noticed how many users take support for granted without truly engaging with the platform.
They just publish and move on, with very little interaction, leaving all the work to others.

I won’t get tired of repeating it: Steemit can only move forward with the effort of everyone.
We can’t rely only on that small group of people who care about the platform and struggle to keep the communities together.

Personally, I’m starting to feel this fatigue and a bit of disappointment.
Sometimes I wonder why I even bother dedicating myself to others when I could simply focus on my own interests and keep growing on Steemit..

But in the end, I stay because, in some way, I still believe in the value of a community that truly supports each other.

Let’s hope more people start to understand that to receive support, one must also make an effort to support others.

The disappointment and fatigue is because there's no room left to do what you like most and that should be changed. It's what I call feeling grumpy if I can't write and commenting is not writing not even if it takes me 3 hours to write something.

It is clear that the in the same communities are the creative people, communities able to let the members free and post what they like or feel to. Next to that these are also the communities where you find a a few willing to comment which makes a world of difference.

So we are back where we were in September with the first #we-write and tried to make people comment more and hopefully there are two who still do that. I do believe it's more healthy to set a limit to commenting and who you answer since it's clear not everyone likes it anyway and wants to keep the platform running.
The question remains: should these people be rewarded no matter how "good" is what they post?

Have a relaxing, great time!

It's true that sometimes some users are rewarded more for the constancy of being present and interacting with others, than for the quality of their posts.

But I think this is a bit part of the game, to entice them to continue being active.

But then it happens that curation is expected even when it's not really deserved.

Have a great time too.. 😊

I believe you are one of the Steemians who are concerned with this topic. And out of a common sense, wakeupkitty and I have decided to implement to action the MINER We-Write initiative. The first class is planned to start this Monday (tomorrow).

We hope this new version of #we-write can further instil awareness and skills in engagement. A small endeavour that arises from our concerns that you share.

tc4-tfc.png

I'm glad to hear that We-Write is evolving!
It seems like a great step towards strengthening engagement on Steemit, and I believe it can make a difference. 💪
I really appreciate your efforts and will be following this initiative with interest. Best of luck for the first session.😊

Thank you very much for this nomination. Although I like poems and have a few of my favorites that have found their way into my heart, I don't know about poetry. I have never tried to write a poem before. Thank you again, you prove to me that it is worth trying.

In line with the vision of the True Colours Team, one of which is to give greater exposure to arts (literary and visual), Tim thought that your work deserved to be nominated. I personally like your writing basically because it reflects an anxiety with a level of imagination that is beyond my expectations, and also the choice of topics that I think is ‘unique’, if I may use that word.

Thank you for sharing on Steem. Best wishes.

@aneukpineung78
I did not expect this nomination. I am very happy about these details. It always enhances the recognition because it motivates me to write. Those of us who love literature, rejoice to have a space to share and meet new lovers of art, writing and art in general. So, by instinct, everyone should use this wonderful platform to better themselves, and meet those who share the affinity of writing, as if life were at stake.
Thanks for the support.
