Sixteenth Week as a Steem Representative - CW 51

Deutsch im Anschluß...

Good evening, Dear Steemians and Dear Steemit Team!

I hope you've had a lovely and relaxing festive season so far! Yes, it must have been Christmas again...

It almost passed me by unnoticed. Some unexpected bereavements among family and friends have turned the festive mood into something else, something thoughtful and reflective. I would like to take this opportunity to say a few words about the end of the year here too...

This is not the first time I have asked myself: what am I actually doing here? I'm reporting things that you can easily find out for yourself by clicking into Steemworld: I'm sure that anyone who finds this information relevant will do the same. So... why? That's why I filled my reports with questions and suggestions, thoughts and hints right from the start - in the hope of being heard and perhaps making a difference.

Well - most of the responses came from users who I knew in advance had similar views. This pleases and confirms me, but ultimately leads nowhere. The recipients of these reports, i.e. the Steemit team, are holding back as usual with answers, explanations or statements. The degree of appreciation there can at best be measured by the exact percentage values of the votes distributed (which, without more precise indications, degenerates into blatant speculation).

So - what am I doing here? Representing. Whom and what? My interpretation when I was confirmed was that each of us representatives stood for a certain type of Steemian. In this sense, I wanted to give a voice to the people who, like me, see the Steem as a playground for writing enthusiasts, to become visible in the mass of those who have other intentions.

Whether I have succeeded in this is to judge by those who identify with my self-image. But the fact is: voice or no voice - it will probably not be recognised or is of no further importance...

That's perfectly okay with me; I'd just like to know. In case of doubt, it could save me a lot of effort, which I am very, very happy to put in - if it were fruitful and in any way purposeful. At the moment, I don't really believe in it...

And now to the routine part:

I haven't published much myself in the last two weeks; there was and is a lot to deal with and also to organise in a very mundane way when friends and relatives die. It's a bit overwhelming at the moment.

I'm still organising the regular contests in our Dream Steem Community and looking after our authors' contributions. Of course, I don't neglect the curation with the Community and Charity Account either. The number of our members is slowly but steadily increasing and the number of active posters is stable above 30…

There was a new fundraising campaign and other internal activities.

Guten Abend, liebe Steemians und liebes Steemit-Team!

Ich hoffe, Ihr hattet bislang schöne und erholsame Feiertage! Ja, es war wohl wieder einmal Weihnachten…

Fast ging es unbemerkt an mir vorbei. Einige unerwartete Trauerfälle in Familie und Freundeskreis haben die festliche Stimmung in etwas anderes verwandelt, in etwas nachdenklich-reflexives. Dies möchte ich gerne nutzen, auch hier ein paar jahresabschließende Worte zu verlieren…

Nicht zum ersten Mal frage ich mich aus diesem Anlaß: was mache ich eigentlich hier? Ich berichte Dinge, die man ganz einfach mit einem Klick in die Steemworld selber herausfinden kann: ich bin sicher, für den diese Informationen eine Bewandtnis haben, tut das auch genau so. Also… Warum? Meine Reports habe ich deshalb von Anfang an mit Fragen und Vorschlägen, mit Überlegungen und Hinweisen angefüllt – in der Hoffnung, Gehör zu finden und vielleicht etwas zu bewegen.

Nun – reagiert wurde darauf überwiegend von den Nutzern, von denen ich vorab bereits wußte, daß sie ähnliche Ansichten vertreten. Das freut und bestätigt mich durchaus, führt aber letztendlich nirgendwo hin. Die Adressaten dieser Reports, also das Steemit Team, halten sich wie gewohnt zurück mit Antworten, Erklärungen oder Statements. Den Grad der dortigen Wertschätzung kann man bestenfalls an den genauen Prozentwerten der verteilten Votes ermessen (was ohne genauere Anhaltspunkte krass spekulativ ausartet).

Also – was mache ich hier? Repräsentieren. Wen und was? Meine Auslegung bei meiner Bestätigung lautete in etwa, jeder von uns Representatives stünde für einen bestimmten Typ Steemianer. In diesem Sinne wollte ich den Leuten, die den Steem wie ich als Tummelplatz für Schreibwütige verstehen, eine Stimme geben, sichtbar werden in der Masse derer, die andere Intentionen mitbringen.

Ob mir das gelungen ist, müssen diejenigen beurteilen, die sich mit meinem Selbstverständnis identifizieren. Fakt ist aber: Stimme hin oder her – sie wird vermutlich nicht wahrgenommen oder ist nicht weiter von Belang…

Ist völlig okay für mich; wüßte ich nur eben gerne. Könnte mir nämlich im Zweifel Aufwand ersparen, den ich sehr, sehr gerne betreibe – wenn er denn fruchtbar und in irgendeiner Form zielführend wäre. Momentan fehlt mir der rechte Glaube daran…

Und damit zum Routine-Teil:

Ich habe selbst nur wenig veröffentlicht in den letzten beiden Wochen; es gab und gibt vieles zu verarbeiten und auch ganz profan zu organisieren, wenn Freunde und Verwandte sterben. Aktuell überfordert mich das etwas.

In unserer Dream Steem Community veranstalte ich weiterhin die regulär laufenden Wettbewerbe und schaue nach den Beiträgen unserer Autoren. Natürlich vernachlässige ich auch nicht die Kuration mit dem Community sowie Charity Account. Die Anzahl unserer Mitglieder steigt langsam, aber stetig und die Zahl der aktiven Poster liegt stabil über 30…

Es gab eine neue Spendenaktion und weitere interne Aktivitäten.
