Lets talk about Robotics. Robots has been a fiction for centuries but in the second half of 20th century they've become a reality.

Looking back: robots had their predecessors back on those days of the ancient Greece, where some people imagined that certain tasks could have been made by machinery instead of manlabor. Almost 2500 after, Leonardo Da Vinci created the concept of an autonomous machine that was able to respond to certain stimulation to create a result. In the midst of 20th century the vivid imagination of thousands of dreamers thought about a future in which specialized machinery would be able to act as servants to humans, making mimic of their actions and decisions and working along with their masters.

Above all this, writers, novelists and even scientists came after a consensus on how humans would deal with this reality in the upcoming future. Is robotics going to represent a danger or a salvation to us? What possible consequences could lead its misuse?

Looking forward: we already know that robots not necessarily means it's a machine with a human resemblance. Robots come in all sizes and shapes, and as most of the home appliances come with a preprogrammed microchip with an algorithm created to accomplish an specific functionality, we can certainly say we have robots everywhere around us.

But a robot is nothing but a bunch of servos, circuits and hydraulics without a program that controls it, a software. Without it a machine would be nothing more than a blender or a toaster. That kind of advanced software is called Artificial Intelligence that actually is a Simulated Intelligence because robots, as we've conceived them, have no intuition nor a rational thinking.

When i look forward and try to foresee how future robots would be like, i imagine a world that has been automatized in almost all its splendor. Drones that come and go bringing groceries to your house from your local store, home appliances connected altogether through wifi and knows exactly what do you need to buy at the supermarket and, why not? a man sized android that acts as a servant and a protector.

But every coin has two faces. An increase of automated help could lead to an uprise on unemployment. That could be true if it wasn't for the fact that we already went through a similar situation back in the Industrial Revolution. Unemployed people will get a chance to improve their abilities to adapt to a new form of jobs and opportunities and a lot of new and innovative careers will become available to fulfill the new market necessities.

To be honest I do not like to have a fridge ordering my groceries and paying for it. That's why I still live without a fridge (at the moment it's 37°C so it is possible).
We already know machines take away jobs and we should ask if it is good to create generations of people who do not work, have no skills, lost their interest in everything.
There won't be a new market if people have hardly money to eat.
The only people who will benefit from it is a handfull of wealthy who loves to know everything about you.

Good article though. 👍🍀💖

Mankind has gone through this before kitty. Back in 18th century with the industrial revolution many workers found themselves without a job because they were replaced by a machine, and what happened? A new wide arrange of opportunities arose, new fields of investigation, careers and jobs were created. Technicians, engineers, accountants, educators, and in the end all this new context made us more productive and competitive. This time it won't be different.

I don't think this is the same. At that time we were not overgrowded, we have (had) it all. Thete's a limit for everything and that Big Reset already started. I truly hope not to live in that world but I already am.

I understand. I believe there will be a big commotion (don't know if that's the right word) but in the end we, the good ones, we shall overcome
