Shortfilm: Molly Et Son Chat (Molly and her cat)

This is the story of Molly. No, not of Molly and her cat, although Grandma gave the little girl a little life while enjoying the summer holidays. It turns out the pet and Molly don't match. Let's say it all started with a... scratch.

How great it is to spend time with Grandmother. The two have fun together until the old lady arrives home with a cat. It seems like a great present but before the cat is put down Molly already realizes that there is something wrong with the new pet and within a short time she notices that her beloved Grandma cares more about the kitten than about her. Little is left of the person she knew.

It is clear the cat demands all attention and that Grandma enjoys the little creature. She only has eyes for the cat who is allowed to do considerably more than Molly and it seems that the granddaughter is demoted to the maid who is just barely allowed to be present in the house.

Molly sees something that Granny doesn't which is a mean cat and I see what she sees. The way the animal looks at the child is far from sweet and alarming. When the monster destroys the child's cuddly toy mouse, the only memory of... (we have to guess here but I suspect the parents) and Grandma responds with: Oh, he only wanted to play, it changes the nice girl. Does her true nature come out or do we see someone who defends her territory but is willing to go to extremes?

It is unclear what age Molly is but she is a small child with the amazing talent to find a way to get rid of the unwanted housemate (beating, drowning and electrocuting the cat that seems to be unable to die). Unfortunately, the only disruptor who always seems to be in the way is... Grandma.

Is Molly a psychopath as one of the comments says? Is this short film not suitable for children? To be honest, I think the comments left behind are exaggerated, as well as the so-called concern about children. The violence in average animations and games has always been high (think Tom & Jerry, The Looney Tunes, and Walt Disney) not to mention all the other violence that children are confronted with on a daily basis. I cannot imagine that a child can see a cat being chased but not notice the dirty tricks of the cat (in this case the looks also speak volumes) and the behaviour of grandma that is not that different from the average parent who also wants something other than being there for a child 24/7.
