Happy New Year Steemiansπ I'm so happy βΊοΈ and while still in the happy mode, I want to share how mine went with pleasure π
- My New Year celebration in my village "Nkwot Edem Edet, Ikono LGA" beautifully captures in all the essence of Nigerian traditional festivities, much blended with the modern celebration. I effortlessly want to help paint this unique and wonderful pictures πΌοΈ in more details.
The Sacred Beginning |
---|
Starting my new year with spiritual gratitude shows a deep cultural values to my family as we always do. The first day early morning church service set in a perfect tone for the day, reminding us all that thanksgiving π comes before the celebration. This practice, is so common in many Nigerian villages, mostly Believers of Christ and Pentecostal churches to strengthens community bonds while also seeking divine blessings for the new year ahead.
Feast Preparation
The preparation of our feast did tells a story of both tradition and of course abundance:
- The Cock bird π¦ which we kept in captivity the previous night reflects the age-old practice of always preserving live poultry for some special occasions like this
The Cock for Feast |

- I also purchase of pig meat (β¦8,000 worth = 45 Steems) to add to the bird to help make meat surplus. This shows a bit of thoughtful planning and generosity.
- A garnish combination of white rice and stew prepared by my mother which is one of our beloved Nigerian celebration meal, bridges in traditional and contemporary tastes together.
Community and Family Gathering |
---|
our celebration did encompassed various social circles:
- Many Family members gathers in the village, some probably traveling from the cities.
- Many Friends joined in the festivities, bringing too their own energy and joy of togetherness.
- Many Colleagues present, shows that professional relationships do extend into personal celebrations as well.
- The Village community members did not sit back but join in participating and strengthening local bonds
Our choice of the white rice and stew is particularly significant in our Nigerian celebrations:
- I believe the Rice symbolizes prosperity and many abundance π fortunes
- The meat-rich stew (all combining both the bird and pork) definitely represents generosity and the hospitality
- The combination now reflects on the Nigerian tradition of preparing special meals π² for special occasions.
The Village Setting |
---|
My village Nkwot Edem Edet did provided us the perfect backdrop for this celebration:
- The amazing village atmosphere adds pleasing authenticity to the celebration
- The Natural surroundings enhances the festive mood for us
- The community setting too allows for a broader participation and sharing.
Social Dynamics
My description reveals that multiple layers of social interaction like:
- Family bonds being strengthened through the shared preparation and the celebration
- All Community ties being reinforced fully through collective participation
- Professional relationships also being enhanced in a proper casual, festive setting
- Our Cultural traditions being passed down to all through shared experiences
My statement "worth every action" greatly speaks volumes about the importance of always maintaining these traditions:
- Preserving our cultural practices in this modern times
- Creating a lasting memories always with loved ones
- Investing positively in community relationships
- Maintaining of connections with one's own roots
Looking Forward |
---|
Such celebrations always carries deeper meaning for the year ahead:
- It did set a positive tone for the new year to progress with
- Create in us bonds that support our future interactions
- Build too memories that strengthen family ties and fairness
- Reinforce our cultural identity and it's values
My celebration beautifully exemplifies that Nigerian traditions continue to thrive this 2025, showing all that despite global modernization, the necessary essence of community celebration always remains strong in places like Nkwot Edem Edet. The combination of the spiritual observance, the traditional food preparation, and the community gathering creates in a rich tapestry of cultural experience that really makes such celebrations truly meaningful and so "worth every action."
- This kind of celebration I experience not only honors the past alone but also strengthens that foundation for the future generations to understand how well and appreciate their cultural heritage while also welcoming a new year with hope and such gratitude.
This was simple how I celebrate π₯ π my new year in Nkwot Edem Edet and please I want to know from @nsijoro, @toflex and @jozzie90 how the new year celebration was over there. Y'all travels to your respective villages too if I'm not mistaken.

New year celebration here is always something I feel has a sensation that resonated within, seeing tyres burnt to ashes at midnight to give light to passerby, series of greetings wishing everyone a happy new year, it's always a time to reunite and I can see that you did so, animals were killed and feasted upon that how they season should be but I want to ask, why should professional bonds be enhanced if truly there are built by professional entities.
