My Resumption Plans For the new academic year

INTRODUCTION

Happy new year to the teachers and students of this community, it's good to be here. I'm @destinedhanik. It's a new year and work resumes again, no more rest and relaxation, so I'll be talking about my resumption plans for the new term in this contest as organized by @nsijoro. But before I begin, I'll like to invite the following persons to partake in this contest. @jes88, @wirngo, @pinkysmart.

How was your short break?

My short break was very fine tho I gave myself more break than I should have. We closed for the term on the 8th of December which was on Sunday and we were supposed to resume holiday lessons on 9th of December and the only holidays we were given was 24th to 27th December and 1st and 2nd January, the rest of the days, we were still expected to come to school and teach the JS3 students and the SS3 students because they will soon be taking their external exams, but I did it fir just one week and stayed back as November salary wasn't firth coming and other teachers stayed back. So I felt kind of sad.

But then, I reached out to my dad and he sent me the kind of money that I didn't even expect, so I used it to enjoy my holiday which was precisely 3 weeks instead of few weeks given by my boss. I spent lots of time with my girlfriend at Christmas village and I also bought things I lacked, like shoes, earrings, for myself. I bought suya meat which I had missed fur a while and I rested a lot, and spent my time eating, watching movies and reading novels.

Also spent time with my favourite student during the holidays.

Eating enough of my favorite meal made my Christmas fun

Church activities too made my not too short holiday fun.

I gifted myself a new wig, besides buying other things.

So, my not too short break was filled with lots of activities and I was on spending spree tho a low budget one.

Are you resuming today, or how and when are you resuming?

Yes, I resumed on the first day of reopening. Though my plans was that by resumption, I must have gotten a new work place due to some things in my current work place like months of owed salaries, toxicity, etc but the places I saw were far off and in this economic situation, when getting a job, you have to consider transportation. So I resumed today, but I felt sad on realizing that most of the staff members aren't coming back due to the fact that they weren't paid November salary. I also felt sad because I didn't know what to expect in terms of salary. If November isn't paid as at January, then when will December and then January will be paid. The students turn out was low too and as usual, the school owner started the term with a meeting and calling staff members all sorts of names.

What's your plan for this new academic session/resumption from the break? (What goals do you set, and how are you going to achieve them?)

Even if I'm still finding myself where I didn't want to be, but as long as I'm there, I will give it my best until I leave. We have many activities for this term because this is the term for cultural day abd interhouse sport. So I have lots of things to do and prepare.

• My first goal is writing down my scheme of work which will help me cover everything I'm to do this term, this I have already done.

IMG_20250107_100851_103~2.jpg

• I have also made up my mind not to slack in writing my lesson notes. This term is the term for lots of rehearsals but in between these rehearsals, we will still be expected to submit all lesson notes on time and failure to do that is surcharge. Also, lesson notes helps a teacher deliver lessons well.

• one of the goals I have this term is learning what I do not know which I have started already. Though I teach English in the Junior secondary, but there are things I do not really understand in the senior secondary curriculum, so I have made up my mind to rad and jot down on topics such as types of phrases and clauses. The reason I need to know this is that, I do not know where I'll find myself tomorrow and I'll be needing this knowledge.

• I will also work on covering the necessary literature books for my students. I will try my best to make sure those having external exams will do well in my subjects so that all the teachings won't be in vain.

• In terms of sport activities, I'll try to make sure my house comes first. I'll make the students to be serious in, not only academics but also in the sport and cultural activities.

• Finally, I'll not give up on searching for a better working environment. I may not get it this term but I'll still continue searching while doing my best where I am.

I really appreciate your commitment, teaching work can be so stressful but we can never teach for free, my lecturer will always remind me that education is not for the poor, meaning much investment and money is involved when it comes to the school system, i like the courage you took to stand your ground not to show up in a place your salary is not but here you are again in the same place doesn't mean you shouldn't give your best just as you have said, do your best dear, we need to advocate for a better treatment for teachers, I wish the government can help us..

@nsijoro, thanks. I appreciate your encouragement.

you are welcome
