SEC-S19W6 | Digital Applications in Learning

I am glad to be part of the Steemit Engagement Challenge Season 19/Week 6 with the topic Digital Applications in Learning. Incidentally, this is my first participation in such contests because I found this topic of which I have little knowledge.

  

I will discuss the points in the same order that you have raised in your contest post before I answer your main questions.

Interactive Learning App

I studied at a time when there was no scope for technology in digital education, but do we study everything in school? I have studied during my job as learning is a continuous process. I believe that digital education has made life easier for everyone and I have learned a lot online through digital methods. Now instead of using pen and paper, we use various software and tools to create presentations and projects.

Video Conference App

I once used Zoom, but now I use Jira, Microsoft Team, Google's tools, and the list goes on.

These methods see the need for digital technologies as an important tool not only in education but also in professional work and learning, of course. In India, BYJU's online learning programs are very popular in the education sector.

I agree Zoom used to be very popular, but it was banned in India, and the people found alternatives, and Zoom lost some of its importance in India, although it's back.

Document Storage and Sharing App

Again, there is a long list of such apps that enable you to keep your documents safe; for instance, you have mentioned one in your post, Google Drive. How about Dropbox, Microsoft Tools, and, of course, free and also on cost cloud storage apps according to your needs?

Free Adobe Acrobat PDF Reader, where you can create a free Document Cloud account. Use Microsoft apps, and there's more. For me, Adobe Acrobat makes it easy and simple to stay connected with others. However, Acrobat is for professionals and is perfect for working seamlessly across multiple devices and locations.

Content Creation App

I know about these apps and know how to use them because AI has provided a lot of ease of working, especially for students and teachers, and of course what you have mentioned, Canva. But would you believe I have yet to use this app because I prefer Microsoft tools for my creative work and I have no intention of creating content through any app?

Learning Management System

Digital Learning Management Systems are platforms that allow education to manage their online learning content and interactions in one place. This learning management system gathers all course content, daily lessons, assignments, tests/quizzes, feedback, and grading.

In addition, it serves as a place for teachers, students, instructors, and learners to meet virtually. If you have a computer or mobile device, you have an easy learning interface.

For your information, I would like to tell you that I learned a lot while doing the ethical hacking course from MacAfee, especially since LMS has a secure process, controls, and tools that follow data privacy to protect user information and ensure that it is not used illegally.

Now I come to your questions:

How do you see such technological developments affecting the future of education?

I do not doubt that digital technology is changing the way we learn and teach. Digital technological advancements have indeed made a significant positive impact on education, shaping the future of education.

The role of technology in education is important as it provides a simpler, more accessible, and more practical way of learning.

The use of technology in schools has provided digital knowledge to students and also allowed them to explore various subjects in a more in-depth manner! Now we can easily access education with videos, tutorials, and interactive lessons with a laptop, tablet, smartphone, or any other internet-enabled gadget and learn in an engaging and fun way.

Not just students but teachers have also been provided with a convenient way to issue assignments to students and track their progress. Teachers can also use AI-based analytics to get data, which they can use to identify areas of improvement and optimize classroom activities accordingly. Overall, digital learning is making it easier for teachers to create personalized learning experiences for their students.

Can the Steemit platform be used as a learning application? Explain your opinion.

Sure, and the proof is that we are learning through your lessons on Steemit platforms, and not only me and you but the entire world that comes to your lessons when we share them on different sharing media.

We learn different things daily for instance different DIY posts provide us the knowledge to do something and save money. We learn new knowledge on pretty much everything and keep it in our mind for use in the future. To be frank, I have myself learned a lot about Blockchain after I joined Steemit so yes, Steemit is an ideal media that is helpful as a learning platform.

Do you think the use of digital applications can replace face-to-face learning completely?

To some extent but not completely because ultimately face-to-face education wins. You and I know that in the classroom, the teacher is important, and he tries to give the best to the students, but in digital education, there are many other factors, and one of them is internet distraction, which can lead to the student getting distracted during conferencing and using another window.

To provide online education, teachers have to adapt and learn to teach students online, and we are not fully ready yet. Apart from this, not all students are capable enough to afford expensive laptops and mobiles, so digital education will not be possible right now.

Although physical classes also have some drawbacks, where the students live and their socio-economic background can become a hindrance in accessing education, but we are working according to them. Although this has been the traditional way of learning for decades, digital technology is still successful to a great extent for higher studies, but it is not yet fully possible at the primary level.
