INTRODUCTION

Greetings distinguished Steemians, I am happy to be a part of this contest on the topic "Student Building Strategies (PART-2) || teaching students manners ." Let me share with us that one of the things that makes me find delights in attending graduation ceremony is always the saying "You've been found worthy both in character and in learning". This statement puts into consideration the significance of good manners on the aspect of the students.

It shows that for a student to be complete, he or she must be found worthy in good manners. Without a doubt, manner refers to the foundation of an harmonious and cordial way of behavior. It is essential to mention that Shaping a student manner is as important as building his/her cognitive domain because, manner falls under the affective domain which is another important domain of learning. Unlike the cognitive domain which is dominant in the classroom setting, shaping students manner goes beyond the classroom as it involves parental involvement and daily structured practices.

To further elaborate on this issue, I will be attempting the following questions;

How do you as a teacher teach manners in students?What are the steps you will take to teach students manners?
As a teacher, will you take the help of their parents to teach students to maintain politeness, discipline?What activities would you ask students to practice in their daily classes to learn the technique of politeness?
How do you as a teacher teach manners in students?

For effective teaching of manners to the students to take place, as a teacher, I would take the combination 3 approach. I.e coupling modelling, reinforcement and collaborating with my students' parents. It is true that students in most cases tends to behave similarly to their teachers. They tends to speak, walk, act and walk like their teachers. With this, in other to inculcate good manners on my students, I would ensure that I live in a modest way exhibiting good manners at all times.

Consistently showing good virtues such as patience, love, cheerfulness, Honesty, humility etc would also make my students imitate me thus, shaping their manners. In addition, I would also ensure that I spell out the importance of bearing good manners and the detriment involved in show casing ill manners. Reinforcement through classroom teaching and voluntary services are essential while collaboration with parents would come in as well because, the parents needs to exhibit good manners to further influence the students

Steps I would take to teach manners to my students

The very first step would be to live a life full of example so as to enable the students imitate me. After this, I would generate certain class standards that would abide all members of the class. Simple rules such as courtesy and showing appreciation would go a long way. By this, courteous languages such as "Bless you" Thank You" "Much Love" "pardon" would be implemented.

In addition to setting of rules, I would use the play way method teaching strategy where students are expected to act in good manners at different situations that would warrant anger and conflicts. While applying this, I would constantly tell them stories of people who acted in good manners and the rewards they obtained. Basically these Stories would most times be real life Story of people they are familiar with.

As a teacher, will you take the help of their parents to teach students to maintain politeness, discipline?

I will perfectly involve the parents because, the role of parents in correcting and shaping students manner is highly paramount owing to the fact that children spends more time with parents compared to the teachers. With this, building a consistent shaping formula between the School environment and the home is highly important.

In essence, I would communicate freely with my students' parents through meetings, writing of letters, phone calls or any other means of communication so as to get their support and collaboration in shaping my students' manner

What activities would you ask students to practice in their daily classes to learn the technique of politeness?

To learn the technique of politeness, I would encourage and help my students in appreciating what ever efforts of kindness shown to them by others. They would also venture into a biweekly report of the kindness showed to them and how they responded to those kindness.

Another important thing I would do is the provision of group projects where students learn to work together as a team. Finally, while building good manners is never a day business, constantly practicing the aforementioned would enable the students to build up themselves to the highest potentials. I would love to invite @bossj23, @alii001, and @dwings to join the contest.
