Preventing Bullying
As a form of childhood adversity, bullying can include aggression that is physical (hitting, tripping), verbal iname calling, teasing). or relational/social (spreading rumors, leaving out of group), Bullying can also occur through the use of technology, which is called electronic bullying or cyberbullying.
How big is the problem?
Bullying is widespread world wide.
Bullying is frequent. Nearly 14% of public schools report that bullying happens at least once a week.
Bullying can happen online.
WHAT IS CYBERBULLYING?
Cyberbullying is a form of bullying that uses Internet and social media platforms like facebook instagram twitter and YouTube as a means for perpetrating bullying behaviors. New technology have enabled bullies to enact abuse via new media with greater persistence and prevalence.
SHOULD TEACHERS TAKE A PROACTIVE ROLE IN CYBERBULLYING?
Mary teachers may approach the issue of cyberbullying with scepticism because they either do at believe that it is a problem or because they do no believe that the teacher should play a role in combating it. IT is now commonly encouraged for teachers to take a proactive role in speaking out against cyberbullying and addressing specific instances of abuse when they arise. Victimized students need teachers to be their advocates, and bullies need to be taught about the real-life consequences of their actions, even if those actions occur online.
HOW CAN TEACHERS TAKE ACTION TO PREVENT CYBERBULLYING?
Teachers must advocate for their students to understand the relationship between classroom social interactions and the well-being of all their students. Teachers can also speak to a parent about it.

Promote family environments that support healthy development
Early childhood home visitation
Parenting skill and family programe
Provide quality education early in life
Preschool enrichment with family engagement
Strengthen youth's skills
Universal school based programs
Connect youth to caring adults and activities
Mentoring programs
After-school programs
Create protective community environments
Street outreach and community norm changes
Treatment to lessen the harms of violence exposure
