Home Visitation and Parent Feedbacking about My Pupil's Failure Grade

Today, this is the scenario of our counseling with this parent. This parent has 12 children, 9 of these are under his care. One of them is my pupil, the other pupil is from my co-teacher. Actually, there are also a grade 3 pupil that we discovered that wasn't able to go to school, too. Since our last home visit, my pupil still didn't go to school. So, her presence as a parent is requested in the principal's office.

We go back to their house address. Fortunately her mother is at home sleeping. The last time we went there was her mother was at work. Now, we can personally asked the mother about the reason of the absences of her child. As you can see in the picture, the child is peacefully sleeping on the couch.

We told our school principal about the case. As much as possible she don't want failures student at the end of the quarter, so she wants to talk to the parent. We successfully bring the mother to the school. We paid for her transportation and accompanied her to the principal's office. The talked with the principal and we listened. The principal let her signed an agreement to help her children go to school every class days.

The principal is very calm and she tried to help the parent. We, as their class adviser, also wanted to help her children. After her counseling with the parent, we also provide a copy of her statement with original signature. We do hope that they will report tomorrow's class.

Parents have the first major role in children's education. The teacher is only the secondary provider of education. If the children are not trained at home, they can't understand what education is.

I hope, this home visitation and counseling would greatly help to the pupils' low performance in school. I am looking forward for a brighter tomorrow for them.
