Educational management is what determines the success of the education system, as it is a means by which the administration of school is been run and managed properly with the help of professional and material resources.
Whether you're a lecturer, in a higher institution, or a class teacher, teaching in primary or secondary school, educational management should be part of your administrative duty. In my case, I will be using the school that I have taught in before as a case study.
Describe the case.
This is a school that is located in a remote village in Sarduana local government area of Taraba state Nigeria which I was opportune to teach in the school as copper.
In the case of GDSS Mayo Sum-sum, educational management is a decentralized education system, where the principal who is the head of the school, delegates authority to all levels of school administrators. The principal gets his order from the state education board and delegates his authority to all the school administrators.
In the school, it is the principal who makes policy decisions, while the middle and lower levels administrators make other necessary decisions to move the school further. To this before and after the resumption the school management usually holds meetings to plan the next academic session during such meetings the following are documented and mapped out.
Planning: Before any term break or early resumption of academic activities the school management usually makes a strategic plan, on when students are to resume the next academic session, the school fees that students are to pay, setting a goal for the staff to meet and mapping out how the school can achieve its set goal.
Organising: In GDSS Mayo Sum-sum, the system of organizing activities and delegating tasks/responsibilities is one of the things that I admire in the school, as when it comes to organizing the principal will, first of all, ask all the school staff what they can do best for the school individually before delegating responsible to staffs.
Directing: Every staff is required to act by the school's rules and regulations. Once authority has been passed on to staff, they are expected to act according to the direction and timeframe.
Identify the managerial problems that occurred.
A lot of managerial problems occurred in the school. One of the managerial problems that occurred in the school was the issue of finance. Thou it is a government school, that is been neglected the principal was eager to raise the standards of the school to become one of the best in the state.
For the school to achieve a glorified name in the state, the principal wrote so many times to the state commissioner of education for the school to be renovated and materials to be provided for the school which collecting money from the students couldn't solve the problem.
There was a time the principal, instructed that the school should change its color of uniform which was communicated across to the students before they went on break. During resumption, it was only a few students that could afford to get the new school uniform.
Another managerial problem is the problem of getting materials like new boards and chalk for the teaching of the students. The principal would always want staff to spend quality time in the class and teach students, but there is usually a lack of chalk to write on the blackboard.
The late resumption of staff and students was another managerial problem that occurred. Most staff usually resume school late, and even if they resume, they come to the school is usually at late hours of the day.
Analyze the causes using the education management functions that we have known before.
In terms of planning the school management was so serious with their plans to make the school a better place for learning and the staff turnout to duty was a big problem. The plan for the management was to ensure that staff were in school early to pass information across to the students during assembly ground but the majority of the staff were coming to work late.
The school management plan was that every staff should be in school by 7:30 am to address the students before they could go to their various, but at the end of the day, it is only a few staff that would be seen in the assembly ground directing the students.
In terms of organizing, the cause of this is familiarity among the staff. For example, a staff that is related to the principal would always want to go against the authority of the principal simply because he or she is related to the principal.
What do you think is the right solution to the problem?
Well, I think the right solution to the problem is for the staff of the school to be serious with whatever duty that is given to them by the principal. I also think the management of the school should do reposting of its staff most especially staff that are from the community and those who are related to the principal to avoid the problem of familiarity in the school.
Finally, based on finance, the school management should write directly to the state commissioner of education instead of writing to the education board. Staff should be punctual and work in unity.

Late coming is synonymous with government school for both teachers and students. I can bet that the principal too wasn’t coming early as well. But I must applaud the principal for taking several steps to bringing the school up to standard even though they were lack of funds..

Una buena gestión educativa requiere del apoyo de todos los que forman parte de la comunidad educativa ya que si estos no acatan las normas todo se vendrá abajo, el director debe delegar funciones y velar porque estás se cumplan de lo contrario no funcionará su gestión

Disiplin merupakan kunci kesuksesan. Jika guru dan staf tidak memberikan contoh tentang kedisiplinan maka akan susah mengajak murid agar disiplin. Kepala sekolah harus tegas dalam melaksanakan aturan yang sudah ada. Jangan karena memiliki hubungan kekerabatan maka aturan tidak ditegakkan.
