Share your any experience of your life, in which you faced the emergency that could be handled by your own only if you know the basic first response skills.
Last year, I was walking with my father to a religious premise. He was in front of me while I was at the back. I noticed that he stopped walking, but it did not occur to me that he was having difficulties. He tried touching his shoes but, within the twinkle of an eye my father lay flat on the ground.
Instead of assisting him, I panicked and started crying. I did not check if he was responsive or if he was breathing fine because I had no basic knowledge of first response. He stayed on the ground till help came.
If I had knowledge of first response, I would have performed the DRABC protocol. That would have made me to discover that he had difficulties breathing. I would have performed CPR ( Cardiopulmonary resuscitation) which would have helped him.
Imagine you are walking back home, when you witness a road traffic accident between a car and a motorcycle, and the motorcyclist is lying on the road, not moving. There’s some bleeding from his leg, and he appears to be unconscious. You being the first responder, how will you manage this scenario?
First off, I am going to access the situation and identify the type of emergency in order to provide the right response.
Next, I would follow the universal first response protocol - DRABC protocol.
Danger
I would observe the environment and look for and protect myself and bystanders from potential dangers such as high speeding cars, broken mirrors and sharp objects from the car. I would try to secure the accident scene by controlling the crowd and reassuring them that I am there to assist the victim. I could also move the casualty from the road to the side so that the road can be free for other road users.
Response
I would proceed to the casualty and ask him questions like: "Can you hear me?", "Are you okay?" or I could put my fingers up, close to his face and ask him how many fingers are up. If he responds, I will try to keep him calm and look for injuries on his body. If he does not, I would move to the next step in DRABC protocol. While doing that, I will ask one of the bystanders to call the emergency line, describing the situation to the paramedics.
Airway
I would carefully observe the casualty's airways such as mouth and throat to see if it has been obstructed by blood and sharp objects and try to remove it. But, I should not attempt to remove deeply obstructed objects. If the casualty is unconscious, I should check his airway using the head tilt - chin lift technique.
Breathing
I would access if the the casualty is breathing or not. This can be achieved by observing the rising and the falling of the chest region and checking of pulse. If the casualty is breathing, I would put him in the recovery position (which is to lay him on his side). However, if he his breathing abnormally or not breathing, I will perform Cardiopulmonary Resuscitate (CPR) to help him breathe.
Circulation
I will look for circulation and look for areas with excessive bleeding and apply pressure on it with a clean cloth. I can also raise bleeding areas to avoid excessive loss of blood.
Then, I will offer the necessary assistance to the paramedics. I would give them a brief overview of the casualty and what I have been able to do.
I would also reassure the bystanders and try to keep the atmosphere calm.
Draw or Create an engaging illustration/flowchart of DRABC protocol (Try to be creative and don't forget to add your username on the illustration)

I could understand this your experience, instead of helping your dad, you didn't know where to start from, but atleast you raised alarm which helps him get help from the situation.
Atleast with the knowledge here, you have a basic knowledge of what to do in an emergency situation as a first responder.
Wishing you success 👍
