Good day steemians!

I am a teacher for 12 years already. And I handled one of the major subject. I handled Maths. When I was young, I really enjoyed my Math class that is why I took Math subject. Being a Math teacher is both exciting yet stressful. Exciting because I will be teaching my favorite subject. They said that your work will become so light if you just love what you are doing. So, I tried to embrace my profession and tried to love it so that everything will went well.

It is as well stressful because most of the learners hated the subject. So, as a teacher I had to think of strategies until they will slowly love the subject.

Last week, instead of having a paper-ballpen test on our summative test, I made a game so that they will be eager to understand the topic. I gave them 5 minutes to tutor their group members who were confused in the topic.

After 5 minutes, we then started the mini-quiz bee proper.

I called it as mini-quiz bee because instead of doing it individually, I let them experience it as a team so that those learners who dong have idea on the topic will have a chance to learn through their groupmates.

I already told my class that before I come in, they should arrange the chairs according to my instruction. I let the chairs put side ways, and 15 chairs should be place in the middle. Three chairs in every group.

After the alloted time of group tutorial, we then started the game. I call 3 members in each group, and I started with the leaders and assistant leader plus 1 member.

I asked 3 questions:
Easy - 10 seconds - 1 point (factorial)
Average - 20 seconds - 2 points (Permu and Combi)
Difficult - 30 seconds - 3 points (problem)

They will be writing their answers on their tagboards. After the alloted time, I will say tagboard's up. If they fail to raise it after 3 counts, they will be disqualified.

Because of this activity, students became so active and is really eager to learn the topic so they can answer when its their turn.

To wrap up everything, kids are enjoying even there is a bit pressure. And I can clearly see that aside from they enjoy, I can see the unity they shown during the said activity.

I guess that would be all for now. Thank you for reading everyone!

Sincerely,

[K Y R I E 1 2 3 4]

I was one of those students who disliked math lessons when I was in school, Seeing the teaching steps you did was very interesting and will definitely boost students' enthusiasm.

Thank you brother for checking on my entry and for those kind words
