We all know that the education sector has been already populated with the usage of the technology from each step of education. Today the education has become easy because of the technological advancements. There are many digital applications which are helping people to learn things easily and in hand. These applications surely affect the future of the education in a positive way. These applications affect the future of the education in the following given ways:

Enhanced Accessibility and Inclusion

Digital applications are democratising education. They have broken down geographical, economic and social barriers. Anyone can access them from anywhere. There is no any restriction every student can completely access the digital applications and can learn. These applications has given wide access to the remote areas which was only limited to urban areas before the arrival of the digital applications.

Online platforms like Zoom and Google Classroom allow students from all communities to access quality education. Moreover these digital applications are very helpful for those students as well who have any kind of disability. Digital applications have introduced features like screen readers, subtitles. They have also provided alternative input methods. So the digital applications have made the education more easy and inclusive for all. I have used zoom as for my lectures in the university when we were unable to arrange physical classes. And it really helped us to continue our studies. Moreover my teacher shared lectures and assignments with us through the Google classroom.

We all know that the artificial intelligence has taken each industry by storm. In each field AI is being used. Similarly the integration of the AI in the educational system is very helpful. And this integration is game changing. Different wonderful tools like the adaptive learning system and to analyse the performance of the students in real time is really very helpful. By analysing their previous performance and abilities the AI based tools integrated in the digital applications along with education automatically suggests the tasks to the students.

Digital applications also recommend the additional resources to the students. It helps students of all types. The students can gain new knowledge and grasp the concepts according to the their abilities. And in this way the digital applications enhanced with AI improve the learning outcomes.

It also help those people who are disable and cannot go anywhere to join in person classes. Moreover online platforms provide vast resources. They offer interactive videos as well interactive simulations.

Vast Resource Availability and Diverse Learning Materials

These digital applications offer the availability of the resources and a wide range of the learning materials. Online resources provide textbooks and research papers. They also provide multimedia content. The multimedia content make the learning process more easy.

Similarly there are online platforms which offer high quality content for the students from top the universities and institutions. These platforms include Coursera and Khan Academy. So the students can learn from the experts with a little cost.

Limitations and Challenges

There are always two sides of each picture. One is the bright side and the other one is the dark side. Similarly learning through the digital applications also have dark as well as bright side. So limitations and challenges of learning through the digital applications are given below:

Human Interaction and Immediate Feedback

We know that traditional learning system involves direct interaction between the teachers and the students. And face to face learning gives opportunity of spontaneous discussion. We can give instant feedback to the teachers and similarly teachers can get instant feedback from their students. Face to face learning provides emotional support as well. These all things are not available in the online learning system.

These skills are very important to develop social skills and empathy. Face to face interaction develops emotional intelligence. This intelligence important along with the academic knowledge.

Hands-on Learning and Practical Applications

In the learning field there are many subjects and topics which needs hands on learning and practical applications. Some specific topics such as laboratory sciences and performing arts as well as physical education also requires hand on practice. This face to face practice is not possible online. We have to perform some tasks under the observation of the mentors.

Indeed virtual labs provide can also provide experience. But they cannot completely fulfill the needs of the face to face observation and guidance of the teachers while performing experiments.

Some students become lazy in an online learning system. They become fail to manage their discipline and time. And because of the unstructured learning system those students fall prey pray to the disengagement in the activities.

Equity and Access Issues

In the digital learning system the access and availability issues always arise. All the students do not have the same specification devices as well as high speed internet. Many students do not have a good space and setup for the online study so they cannot easily participate in all the learning activities.

This inequality of resources lead to poor educational results. It badly affects to students belonging to the lower income families as well as rural areas. Moreover the reliance on the technology can also make the students limited and dependent on others. They can loose their creative thinking.

So digital applications cannot replace face to face learning completely.
